*Lol. I just found this one. It's like a tank, but thin and slim. Should fit T61p perfectly.
Anyway I am also thinking about:
2. Mobile Edge

Nice one.
$30 - Ok...
3. Marware

If the dimension shown is the external dimension then this one will probably be a little bit smaller.
$30 - Ok...
4. WaterField (With Flap)

$54 - Pricey...
EDIT:
5. Timbuk2

Looks like it's pretty flimsy? Anyone using this please comment on it please. Thanks.
$35 - A little bit pricey...
6. Zero Shock III

hi, take a look at the Timbuk2
http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/laptop/classic-laptop-sleeve -
-
i just want a sleeve that will fit my 9-cell 15.4" t61p..any suggestions?
-
If you think 50 bucks is too much for a laptop sleeve (think so...), then Mobile Edge should be the best and it will fit T61p perfectly. Just be aware that it also use zipper.
Personal opinions... -

I have both a Booq Vyper XXS and a Elecom Zero Shock III for my X61.
IMO, the Vyper is definitely the most sophisticated design wise. It looks very good and is very light due to the balistic nylon material. I usually use it when I only carry my laptop around.
However for protection purposes I find it much too hard/thin on the inside and doesn't even come close to the Zero Shock sleeve, which adapts perfectly to the notebook and has a thick layer of adaptive foam to keep it protected.
So for looks the Booq is a winner, but in my opinion it is mediocre as a notebook sleeve. -

Zero Shock is made by the Japanese company Elecom:
http://www2.elecom.co.jp/pickup/zeroshock3/
The web site is in Japanese, but the pictures and measurement should give you what you need to know.
They also have an English site here:
http://www.elecom.eu.com/
It however does not show the Zero Shock III sleeve which primarily is new in that it has an external zipper for storing small items.
You can also buy them from Shinza ( www.shinza.com) which is a US company/importer. Note that I have heard both good, but also quite a lot of bad things about Shinza. I noticed that they once communicated that they were designing a new Zero Shock case themselves - failing to inform people that Elecom is in fact the manufacturer. I personally have no experience with them.
There are quite a lot of people/companies on eBay that sell Zero Shock sleeves: http://shop.ebay.com/items/zeroshock_W0QQ_nkwZzeroshockQQ_npmdnuZQQ_npmvZ3
Please note that I am not saying that Zero Shock sleeves are the best out there, but it is definitely the best one I've encountered for my needs. You can find prettier ones, but it does the job beautifully.
Good luck. -
how much does the 9 cell add to the dimensions? Is it negligible?
-
-
-
For the Zero shock III, these are the interior dimensions.
Interior dimensions (W x D x H): 14.7 x 1.6 x 10.8 inches (375 x 40 x 275 mm)
For my t61 w/ 9 cell the dimensions are 14 x 1.25 x 11 inches. Will this fit? Seems like it would, does anyone know firsthand? -
just ordered a medium size timbuk2 sleeve, will post some pictures when I get it.
-
what is a good sleeve for a 14.1 standard screen T61p?
-
academicsuperstore says it went backordered. I just canceled it.

The Archetype 17" "cork" case for the MBP fits teh 15.4 almost perfectly, even with the extended battery. It gives ample space on the sides so you can work in the case. I now wish I had gotten teh t61p widescreen instead of the 14.1
anyways this is a great case that is ultraportable!
-
I have the T61 15.4" w/9cell. I think it measures about 10.9" with the 9-cell battery. I think it will fit. Especially since the area of the 9-cell does not span the entire width of the laptop and it isn't as thick either. -
Let us (me) know about the zero shock. If it fits for you, i'm going to buy one. -
Over time I could see this being too much stress on the zipper and causing a problem. Who knows how much time. For now I think it will hold up just fine. I don't plan on sending it back. Hopefully it will hold up for a couple years.
I will say that I was pleasantly surprised with the padding. It is not as thick as I expected but it has a very gelatinous feeling to it when you press your finger into it. -
I just removed the 9-cell battery to see how it fits without the battery. I have to say that the fit isn't much different with or without the battery. It's just barely a little more snug with the battery. I think it's going to work out just fine.
-
Your best bet is the sfbags.com one. They make them custom for each laptop.
-
not really.
I contacted them about standard 14" t61 vertical sleeve.
if you take another look, you'll notice that they suggest same vertical sleeve for 14" standard screen and 14" wide screen. -
How is the ZeroShock III for thickness of the laptop? Going by the specs it seems like it is meant for thicker notbooks then the 14" 4:3 T61 with the sleeve interior of 13.3 x 1.6 x 10.6 inches but the notebook being 12.3 x 10.9 x 1.1-1.3 inches so almost an extra half inch. Then again that may be big enough to store the power adaptor with the notebook inside the case
-
So ignore that interior thickness measurement. Your T61 is definitely not to thin for this sleeve. If my T61 was .5" thicker I really don't think I would be able to zip it up. -
I have the 14.1 inch widescreen with the 7 cell and I looked around for the perfect sleeve for a while. The one I settled on was the Incase nylon sleeve for the Macbook Pro 15 inch.
http://www.goincase.com/products/detail/15-nylon-sleeve-cl57054
This fits like a glove and I don't think that there could be a more perfect fit if the case was custom designed for the t61. The 13 inch incase nylon sleeve fits the 14.1 with the 4 cell as well...quality is fantastic and there is a pocket for your power brick too. It's slim enough to slip in a bag, but has the handles/shoulder strap to carry solo.
That's just my 2 cents.
49.99 on Amazon, or in any CompUSA/Mac Store -

Another set of questions on the ZeroShock III:
Is the pocket on the front of it big enough to hold the power adaptor?
If you leave the side open can the laptop be slid out easy? (i.e. if used in a backpack can the side be opened to pull the laptop out or do you need to open up the case more and or take it out more from the front)
If I get it through that ebay seller it looks like the color is random. But then with shipping it doesn't seem much cheaper
Thanks -
I don't think it would slide in an out easy enough on one of the smaller sides.
I have found two ways that seem to work the best.
take the whoel thing out of my backpack place it on a table, unzip it completely and open it, but leave the laptop sitting on it while in use. Then when you are done you just close the lid and zip it up.
Or, unzip it half way. Slide it in and out of the sleeve from the longer front side. So you will be sliding it in battery/backside first. I just think it is too snug to slide it in from one of the shorter sides. -
Has anyone used the Chrome notebook sleeve for the T61? I didn't see it mentioned in the earlier discussion.
-
On another not I would like to say that after using it for a couple days, the T61 w/9-cell seems to be a perfect fit. I thought it was too tight, but the ZeroShock III was just very stiff right out of the package. Now that it is "breaking in" like a pair of new tennis shoes, it is a great fit. -
Why couldn't they make the pocket out of a stretchy material so it could fit the larger power brick....
Oh well. So seems like the ZeroShock III is the best for shock absortion and I like the bight orange color the ebay seller says they have but the waterfield one seems to be easier to use with a backpack (can leave the sleeve in it) -

,
So you think I should get the 14.1" ZeroShockIII for my 15.4" T61p. From what you are saying the 14.1" should be a perfect fit for 15.4" laptops. I only have the 6cell battery so I think I should be fine.
Thank you, -
I have the 15.4" ZeroShock III for my 15.4" T61 w/9cell.

This looks like a nice sleeve.
I wonder if it will fit T61p 15.4 wide
Its supposed to be for the MacBook Pro but the dimensions of the sleeve might seem to fit the t61 wide albeit snugly.
Interior Dimensions: 14.25in x 10.75in x 1.4in (362mm x 273mm x 36 mm) -
I will try to pick this up from ebay. -
-
Does the Zeroshock come with lined zippers ( to protect against scratches from inside )?
thanks -
JabbaJabba ThinkPad Facilitator
This protective edge does indeed make sure that your notebook does not get scratched by the zipper. -
Just bought the Zeroshock III for my T61p from ebay. Sounds like what I was looking for. I got the orange colored one and then also bought a camera case. Thanks for the great tip.
-
Let us know how it goes, I still can't decide between this and the waterfeild for my 4:3 14" T61p. Looks like the waterfeild is easier to leave in a backpack but the zeroshock is better padded -
I ordered the Zeroshock III for my new 15" T61p last week from ebay and it arrived today. I am very happy with it and it fits the laptop like a glove
.
-
I bought the 15" ZeroShock 11 from Shinza.com (for $18.99) since it seems to be one of the few sleeves that offers any chance of snugness for a 14" SXGA with 9 cell battery.
Probably will be slightly too large for my laptop, but I've a feeling the 14" ZeroShock 111 sleeve would not have the necessary depth, and the 15" ZeroShock 111 was also not a good fit.
edit
Having received my new ZeroShock 11 sleeve, I'll have to admit, not exactly an ideal solution. Would not recommend. Nothing wrong with the construction, just too big for my laptop, more so than I was expecting, in fact. -
Am really liking the ZeroShock III, thinking of getting this in addition to a messenger bag, but can't seem to find a ZeroShock III 15.4" White from any retailers, especially since Shinza only has Black/Orange. Rather not have to eBay it (saw about a grand total of 2), does anyone know other sites that carry it?
-
-
This may have been answered already but can anyone confirm how the 15.4" T61p fits with the 9cell sticking out the back? does it bulge or make the laptop too tight a fit?

Thanks Kyla! Just a little pre-occupied standing and looking out my window everytime I see a big truck driving through our business park. Part of the perks of ordering it from work is UPS delivers to businesses first and residentials much later in the afternoon.
WIth Stallen's insight on the ZeroShock III, I may pick this up as I'll definitely want something like this... plus it will be a nice cushion to sit my laptop on when I'm computer from a couch or bed.

I just received my 14.1 ZeroShock III sleeve from the eBay dealer in Texas. It fits my new T61, 14.1 (standard 4:3 display with 6 cell battery) perfectly. The sleeve is very well made and the dealer respone was excellent.
Is this one the best sleeve for T61p?
