So I'm finally ready to take the plunge and buy a laptop, ostensibly as a replacement for our desktop, which will disappear when we remake our office into a bedroom for our daughter. I found this refurb t61 at the outlet for $678. I ordered it, but I'm starting to have second thoughts on paying that much for a refurbished computer. Here are the specs:

    intel T9300 2.5Ghz 800Mhz 6MB

    Vista Ultimate

    14.1" WXGA+TFT

    4GB DDR2

    250GB 5400rpm

    DVD 8x Max Dual Layer

    Intel Wifi 4965AGN

    6 Cell Battery

    Bluetooth

Intel GMA X3100 GM965 graphics card

So what do think? I can't find another computer with all that stuff for the same price, but it is refurbished. The Lenovo customer rep said most refurbs are lease returns, so who knows what it's been through. I forgot to ask if it has a new battery. I hope so. I could pick up a new T61 with lesser componentry across the board for the same price. What do you think?

The configuration looks fine. The only thing that's weak is the graphics (only a problem if you want to play games [it's plenty good for Vista and video]).

I think Lenovo does a pretty good job with making their refurb units quality computers. Your battery should not be used, although there is a chance it has been a few months since it was manufactured.

I think you got a good laptop for a good price and should keep your order.

    yes,

i realize the graphics portion is not so hot, but i have never even played a game and have no plans to do so. as long as it will keep up with streaming video, i am fine with it. will it do so?

I also bought a T61 from their outlet, although mine was not refurb but new, I think their deals are quite good considering the prices in other websites thar offer refurbished Lenovo products.

Your system has good specs for the money, I wouldn't be worried, keep in mind that is a business product, better build than many other notebooks, if I would have your budget at the time I bought my laptop I'd definitely chose a laptop like yours.

Wow talk about bang for your buck.

I don't <s>know</s> remember what kind of warranty they offer on refurbs but if it's decent I'd say go for it.

I bought a refurb'd T41p over four years ago and it's still going strong (though I just bought a T400).

    Good luck.

Their Outlet products carry a 1 year standard warranty.
