I know you can upgrade a T30 up to 2.6ghz using Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 Processors but as I was browsing I read somewhere that you can upgrade the t30 using Intel® Pentium® 4 Processors up to 3.2ghz with double L2 cache and faster bus, only problem being heat. Also I searched in INTEL and found out that these cpu have the same pins and it seems you can run them at the same voltage if you use battery power.

This is for the original t30

    This is for power consumption.

It's not worth the trouble in my opinion. Upgrading to a faster 7200RPM hard drive will more likely yield a noticeable performance increase than the CPU.

don't think the heatsink can take the heat load, also there is three different heatsink/fan combo.... I know that the Thinkpad T30 can take up to 2.6 ghz, but never heard it can go up to 3.2 ghz. The person to ask would be Ajkula66 (George) over forum.thinkpads.com and forum at Lenovo.com.... he knows the exact details on this issue better than most people.
