I was wondering if anyone had any experience importing a lenovo x61s (or similar) and using it in the UK?
As far as I can deduce there will be 3 things that will be localised and a grey area I'm not sure about:
- Power Adapter will be for the US
- Software installation will be US localisation
- Keyboard keys will be in the US international configuration
Obviously the power adapter will be for the american system, but I'm pretty sure that's just a case of buying an english adapter? As for the software, i can easily just wipe or change the localisation, that isn't an issue. I also think i should be able to take out the keyboard and switch it for a UK version without issue, right? Will an X61 keyboard fit into a X61s?
The last issue is that if i were to import, i get a 3 year IBM factory warranty... my concern is whether I could return it to IBM uk/is it still valid in the uk?

. most laptop ac adapters come with input 100-240v, so all u need is a socket adapter to the wall outlet
. localisation - u said it
. x61 x61s keyboard ( http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-62916.html)
. factory warranty: ibm has ONE year INTERNATIONAL warranty support, last time i bought one, meaning u can send the laptop to ur country of residence within one year, even u bought the laptop from another country. Just make sure that u have not done any "mod" on ur own during this time. If u can get 3 yrs, cool
cheers ... -
interesting, on the warranty. Well its a new unit from ebay, i'll question the seller on it.
Thank you
