    Hi

I've just made a clean installation of Windows 7 64-bit. No problems with the installation. I then installed "ThinkVantage System Update" and ran it og let it install the various drivers and applications. No warnings or messages during installation.

When I ran Windows Vista I had a folder in the "Programs List" called "ThinkVantage" with links to all the Lenovo Software. Now I only see "System Update" and "Client Security Solutions" in that folder. Did something go wrong with the installation of the other applications?

I haven't transferred my files back to the computer so I can make another installation and install all the applications manually, will that be a better solution?

    Regards,

That sounds normal to me, I have a spare hard drive and did a dummy install of Windows 7 on my T61 and just updated everything what System Update prompted. On the programs list I only have System Update under Thinkvantage (I don't have a fingerprint reader on my system so no Client Security Solutions). But utilities such as the Lenovo Toolbox, Access Connections, Power Manager etc. will carry on to run despite not being on the program list. So there's no need to worry just because the program list is different from that of Vista's.

Even so, on my real OS install I only use the Hotkeys and Power Manager. I don't bother installing the rest of the utilities as I find no real need for them (even the System Update itself). Of course there are others who will find them useful and think otherwise, the beauty of a clean install is that you can be flexible and choose what utilities you need and remove the ones that you don't need to save system resources.

Thanks for the replies. Appearently Windows 7 is different than Vista regarding the ThinkVantage programs folder. I've installed hinkVantage Productivity Center so thats gives me quick access to the different applications.

I did make a clean re-installation and then installed each application/driver manually one by one with restarts between each installation. This seems to be a better solution than letting System Update do it. Performance seems better and startup seems faster (when logging into Windows).
