    Hi,

I want to buy Z61t and configured it online. Price came to around $1840. There is a chat online option and while I was chatting with sales rep, he asked my phone number and called me. He told that if I order it right away over phone, they will give discount and price comes to around $1600 ( yes less $250). when I asked how can they do that, he told that sales rep has some window to reduce the price.

I wanted to know is it safe to buy that way ? I have to order the laptop over phone, give credit card details and they will email the invoice itseems.

Please let me know if it is safe to buy laptop through this means.

    Thanks.

Id say safer than doing it online. Millions of people have ordered over the phone I'm sure. Me being one of them.

I'd def try to get that deal back what did they say about the deal when you said no?

I would have to agree with Lowfront. Those conversations are monitored for 'quality purposes'. If you have any doubts, ask the rep. for his name, e-mail and phone ext. If you have further doubts, call the Lenovo number, than put it that extension and be sure you get the same rep. on the phone.

Yeah, it's fine to order over the phone, and it's actually kinda common for them to wiggle on price for you (since they are paid on comission).

We're assuming this is Lenovo.com you were on and not some other side, can you confirm that?

    Hi All,

thanks for the response. Yes it was lenovo.com site and there is a chat online option. When I said no as of now, he said that I may not get the same offer.

I think it would be ok as long as you have proof of receipt isn't. Well not any kind of receipt that is.

It's my dream that a sales rep would abuse my credit card number and I'd have them sent to prison, get my money back from the CC issuer, and sue the company they worked for to pay off my house.

Heck, I might ever place my next order by phone just for that off chance. :)

If you are concerned about security, I'd use a hardwired (corded) phone. Remember people used the phone to order things before the internet...

I would have no issues ordering over the phone--just be smart, don't give more information that you must. Everytime you eat at a restaurant and pay with a credit card, the server has access to your card, etc.

I cannot comment about the reps having some wiggle room to offer discounted prices as I ordered my thinkpad from a reseller.

    Good luck :)
