I'm really impressed and the screen terrorism I've read doesn't appear to be reality imo.
Just have to learn the tricks with the touch pad and nav button.
I really really am relieved because of some of the post I've read here about crapy this and flexy that!
Got Firefox and picasa...need avg and few others to get loaded.
Thanks of all the reviews / post helping me make a choice!
Long live TP's (holds thumbs up to the monitor)

    pics coming!

What is the new Windows 7 default wallpaper? And would you mind posting it (I like my machine to look OEM even down to the wallpaper)?

    Nice!
I think build quality of T500 is better than that of T400.

Grats! That is one sweet looking rig you have there. I felt worried like you did about the screen, flex and whatnot you see all over the forums but as soon as I un-boxed my thinkpad I realized it was all exaggerated. I also think I cried a bit when I powered it on for the first time.

    LOL @ Liquidxit2
I really like the built-in 10 key number pad too....just a really smart feature incorporated into the kb.
Anyone else feel that the "Think-light" at the top is not really at a very adequate angle for it's purpose?
I'm Certain I'll discover lots more useful tricks as I play with it.

Oh...My wife has requested a Bluetooth mouse for this. Suggestions are welcomed! No gaming ...just internet and work!

Also....all the usb ports being on the left side and all my wife's peripherals conversely are located on the right in her office.....
I'm thinking a USB hub would help solve some of this...? Thoughts?

    Overall I give this a 9 outta 10 stars!

    Nice T500 !
As far as the Thinklight, if your not going to use it on an air plane at night, or in a VERY dark room, then don't even bother to turn it on. It's good when it's VERY dark (you can even read documents, etc. with it as well, but again, it has to be VERY VERY dark.
Anyway, as far as a Bluetooth mouse, I recommend a Thinkpad mouse lol. It's black, and the scroll button in the middle is red. Looks really cool. Go to the Lenovo website, and you can look it up there. I personally don't own one (too late before I knew they even make them), and ended up getting a Logitech travel mouse (USB, not bluetooth).

That's the one I currently use. The Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 has been great for me so far. I was, in fact, debating between it and the Thinkpad Bluetooth mouse.

I use the thinklight in bed with the TV on and lights off and it works great for me, definitely one of my favorite features. What do you mean by numpad? That is one feature i miss on my old 17in is a full sized numpad.

Glad you like the new T500. I've really fallen for mine, too. I was also concerned about the screen, but either I have a good Samsung or the whole thing was overblown or I'm too easy to please!

All the USB ports being on the left side are a little aggravating to me, too. My stuff, particularly printer, are on the right side.

I have this mouse and wanted to recommend it to you as well. I love the mouse and it works great. Just the right weight and has the softtouch paint on it like the T500 lid.

BTW - Wow, you got it for a great price. The price has really come down. I paid atleast $45 for mine.

The keyboard has a function/numlock key that toggles a bank of keys into a 10 key numberpad for ease of entering numbers! (stupid silly ingenious)
    Starts at the "M" key...J,K,L...U,I,O,P ...etc..etc..
    see the pic...

Oh ok I was wondering what you were referring to when you said numpad.

    Yep it is.

It is pretty common, I think I have had in on every non dedicated numpad laptop since 2004.
