You might want to consider getting Bluetooth, never know when it might come in handy in the future.
-
Nice config, don't worry about the bluetooth! I didn't get it either

I've been trying to order a T500 for about half an hour now, but it keeps saying "Our Systems are experiencing heavy volumes. Please resubmit the order after a short time."
Anyone else having problems? -
Two and a half years ago I bought my current personal laptop and figured I didn't really need to worry about internal bluetooth.
Dumb mistake. I ended up using it regularly, so I went with a dongle. Pain in the patootie to keep fishing out of my laptop bag. Finally was able to find an internal module and tore my laptop down to install it (requires nearly complete disassembly on a v2000 series).
For the ~$25 it costs, I won't buy another laptop without internal bluetooth. -
Thinking about one of these, but I won't order til I see some benches.

Congrats on the nice config man! I'm seriously thinking about joining the W500 train but have a small concern. So if anyone can help me with my question, I'll be one happy man. I went through the specs sheet and could not find a word saying about LED backlight, which is odd for a premium class machine. I also noted that W500 and T500 are identical twins in terms of physical dimensions and they should have the same screen matrixes. While most of the parts for T500 and W500 have the same price (RAM and HDDs, for instance) the screen upgrade option for W500 is almost twice as expensive than that of T500. Can someone comment on that? Is it because Lenovo charges so high for the premium class notebook or it may be a sign that W500 screens are LED backlight after all? Or it maybe just my wishful thinking, haha.
P.S. yankcrime I found a thread on Lenovo forums with Google translation of the Czech preview of W500. The benchmarks are nice, it scored something like 4800 in 3dmark06 which is not bad at all. -
The screens aren't backlit. There will probably be an option at some point, but no one really knows yet. The W500 and T500 actually have different screen upgrade options--the T500 starts at WXGA with the choice to upgrade to WSXGA+ and the W500 starts at WSXGA+ with the choice to upgrade to WUXGA.

that explains the price difference.. the the wsxga+ is a good screen??

Is the ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 any good in comparison to high-end graphics card like the ATI HD3870 and the 9800M GT?
-
To keep it short: no.
This card is an ATi Mobile HD 3650, which is similar to a current 8600M GT with GDDR3 RAM. So no progress there. -
no its stronger than that. its uses the same amount of stream processing units as the 38xx just half the bandwidth but half the memory 128bit rather than 256bit. so id assume its somewhere in betwenn the 3650 and the 38xx.
The 3650 is mid range. the v5700 is mid-high range and suppose to compete with the quadro fx 1700m
