Just Ordered T61 Waaahoooo

Well guys, I've been waiting for a long time now. I have had my heart set on a Lenovo/IBM laptop for college since I can remember. They have withstood the test of time in the business world and are the BEST built laptops on the planet. I finally pulled the trigger on the 15.4" T61 for college, here's what I got!

How in the hell are you getting your T61 before me when I ordered on May 14th. I am so pissed at Lenovo right now, this is completely unacceptable.

 

Its the 15.4" version I guess, remember its estimated.

Something really screwy about that, you arent the only one that ordred weeks ago, and still have ship dates after the more recent orders. Maybe they just need time to adjust your order and get the ship date adjusted.

 

He paid a lot more as well.
I paid $1400 /w Tax for almost everything he has except I got T7500 (as T7700 was not available) with 14.1" (which I prefer as I have two 22" monitors if I need room for some reason) and 3 years of warranty instead of his 2 with nVidia.

I also got 7% TailorMade and FatCash as well on top of this.

So him paying almost $1000 more than I did.....for having T7700 and 1 less year of warranty, I hope they ship his before mine.

 

Just realized the mini dock comes with a power cord, what is the best way about going and removing the additional power cord taht i have ordered. Additionally, when purchasing I used my mom's credit card and had to edit my billing address/shipping address to match my mom's CC. However, when I originally made my lenoco, I made it under my dad's name. Now i got my order confirmation and saw that the billing address is my dad's name and the shipping address is my mom's. I guess I'll have to call tomorrow to get this all ironed out, will I have to cancel my entire order or just make a few changes?

 

Your mother will have to call in....unless the rep just doesn't care, which is quite possible at this point. But they would usually ask for the person paying to talk.

 

Would I have to entirely cancel or just alter?

 

When I made my original order, that I ended up canceling, it took two days for Fatwallet to credit my account. Also, it's still there and has yet to be removed even though I canceled about a week ago. Think they'd catch on if you ordered a really expensive laptop, waited for it to clear with FW, and then canceled it over and over again?

No you dont have to cancel, and I think that is a big in the system where you enter one billing address, and you change it to the one you want...then when you submit the order, the confirmation email has the original incorrect billing address. I just called them the next day, and the rep took care of it right over the phone. No problem.

 

what logo will my laptop come with, the new one or the old tri color IBM one?

 

If you're a retail customer direct ordering from Lenovo, probably the TP logo. If corporate, IBM. If getting it preconfigged aka a "Top Seller" model, maybe IBM too.

 

Anyone else, I thought I read an article somewhere saying that consumer purchased Thinkpads received the old IBM logo....its somewhere.

Hmm, I can't refute that, but I thought I read the opposite somewhere. If that's true though, then I can't understand why corporate would the only people with the option. Those people would naturally go IBM, and in bulk ordering, would have the leverage power to request it. Lenovo, on the other hand, wants to establish themselves (by necessity, if not desire) and TP as separate from IBM, so you'd naturally expect that if there were two options, the non-IBM version would be the one forced down the throats of the average consumer.

Perhaps the "Top Seller" models bear the non-IBM logo? Those ordering from sites like Buy.com should be getting those pre-configs. If those are IBM too, I can't understand why they had an option in the first place...

OMG I just can't wait anymore, I'm so excited. My estimated ship date is the 19th but I guess I shouldn't hold my breath for that to be the ship date or are 15.4" T61s not effected w/ the shipping delay?
