After much reading/research it's a Done Deal. Computer will be used for basic multi-tasking no gaming.
    Here's the config for $970 with Tax/Shipping.

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T8300 (2.4GHz 800MHz 3MBL2)1
    Windows XP Professional
    15.4 WXGA TFT
    Intel GMA X3100 GM965
    2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)8
    UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)
    100GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm4
DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim5
Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN (supporting Centrino Pro)10
    No Bluetooth
    6 cell Li-Ion Battery60
    6465: Express - 1 Yr Depot Warranty7

BTW, the price I got on the web with codes and with tax was $1020 with same config....paying with Visa over the phone lowered my price to $970...the salesperson also included the current online coupon code so use this method if possible.

I just went through the Visa cardholder program at lenovo and got your specs for $877.88, but that's without tax. I know when I ordered mine over the phone, the sales rep used a different code than the one I used and only got like 6% off instead of 10%. What was your price before taxes?

I specced my t61 a bit different, ordered it on monday. The salesrep probably used USXMARCHSAVINGS rather than USXTHINKMADNESS. I'd call lenovo and see if they can credit you the dif. Don't they have some sort of 21 day price guarantee? My sales rep told me they "of course want you to have the best price possible" so I would call them on that :)

Edit: I bought mine after I corrected the sales rep quote with my own ;)

They will price match... I just got off the phone trying a price match...

But I was unaware that I screwed up in configuring the new system... selected the wrong screen... therefore there was no difference in prices

They make you go through the checkout process and instead of Ordering you create a quote and you give that number to the rep. They then verify it and send it off to their supervisor for approval.

The sales rep was very kind and helpful. I have her contact information in case I have anymore future issues.

Can't use fatwallet with Visa purchase program anyway (I'm pretty sure, if I wrong please tell me). Good thing to keep in mind though.

My stupidity on configuring a different system saved me then... so I can get that 8% cash back :D

Just went online via the Visa program, configured the same computer, entered USXTHINKMADNESS, and it still came out to $906.

If your comp. with the same configs came out to $877, email me a copy of your sales order so that I can show it to my rep. [email protected].

    Thanks.
