So I just purchased a Lenovo T500 with the following specs:
    WSGXA+
    Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26)
    ATI 3650 256 MB
    4 GB DDR3 RAM
Vista Home Basic (Planning on upgrading to ultimate through school)
    160 GB HDD 7,200 RPM
    Intel WiFi 5300 Card
    1.3 MP Camera
    6 Cell Battery

I know I can't change anything since I have already bought it, but I was wondering what your takes are on this machine so I know what to expect. I will be using it for all the regular college things as well as some gaming. Do you all think that this will last me the 4+ years through college? Also is the GPU DDR2 or DDR3?

yea it will, I just bought one a week ago too. Except I got 3gb. and a 2.4gz. It will definentely last 4 years and the switchable graphics card is cool. With 6 cell it will last you about 4-5 hours if you go on low setting.

I gather you don't have it in your hands yet. Why not wait until it arrives and you can tell whether or not you need a replacement to worry about this?

I think your machine should last 4 years, baring any major hardware failures/accidents. I like your config and your screen resolution choice. Congrats!
