    Here is what I configured:

    Intel Core 2 Duo processor P8400 (2.26GHz 1066MHz 3MBL2)
    Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
    14.1 WXGA+ TFT w/ LED BL
ATI Mobility Radeon 3640 with 256MB
    2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 (2 DIMM)
    Integrated fingerprint reader
    160GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
    Intel 5300 WiFi
    DVD Recordable, Ultrabay Slim5
    9 cell Li-Ion Battery60

After Student Pricing it comes to $1278.21...

    Any other suggestions?

Seems a bit pricy. Try the CPP discount (google) instead.

How did you get the student coupon from Canada??

I'm in Canada too and I'm about to order this laptop so I'd like to have the most rebate that I can :)

Probably not. If your mom works for IBM you could use her employee discount through EPP. Student discount is a different entry point. CPP is the Contractor Purchase Program; similar to but different from EPP.

No reason not to see which of the three nets the best price though.

if you ask me just wait or buy an older model. Thinkpad notebooks are hiding lot's of "surprises" in them lately, and don't want to be the first one to test them out.

issues like the disabled stereo mix, heat problems and so on. look on the still unsolved problems reported by users for the X300 in Lenovo forums.

of course you can say this on any notebook manufacturer, but if you think that thinkpads are better then the rest, than don't assume this.

    Just my 2 cents.

This kind of concerns me as well. However I also understand that Lenovo users might be more critical and more vocal than others. Things like the outrage over a 'more flexible' keyboard and 'cpu whine when putting my ear 3cm from the computer' are examples.

I am not too worried about any major problems I am sure that it could happen but not that worried. This notebook is not mission critical for anything its mostly for school and light gaming while my desktop is my main computer (which is receiving a nice little upgrade as well :) quad-core, hd 4850, 4gb ram...)

As long as it can out perform my old T23 then I'll be happy ;)
