    Hi,
I have been browsing this forum for a few months getting information on a notebook. This site is very informative and I finally made a decision today, over budget hehe. I was going to originally going to get an R series because it was $220 less but decided to buck up the extra money for the T61P because it has better construction and a bigger video card. The total was $1,521 using the visa perks site with the 6% off coupon. This is system is replacing my 5 year old desktop system. The specs on my new T61p are:
    1) T8100
    2) Vista Business 64
    3) 160gb, 7200rpm
    4) 4 gb ram
    5) 15.4" WSXGA+
    6) Quadro 540L 256meg
    7) 9 Cell battery

All for $1521 AFTER taxes using Visaperks.ca

This is replacing my current desktop. AMD 3000XP, 1gig DDR 2700, 250 gig and 80 gig HD, 128meg ATI Radeon 9800 PRO, and dual 17" CRT. I wanted something faster for casual gaming, photoshop, web/email, and MS office. I read good informative reviews on the T61P series so I will try and remember to write a short review when it arrives. This is my first laptop and the portability is the main reason for getting one and since I am not a hardcore gamer I just wanted a laptop that will last 2-3 years so this should be sufficient.

Congrats on your new T61p I know you'll love it!!!!!!

They are awsome I love mine.

However I would have only bought 1GB of RAM and install 4GB after I got it. Thats what I did saved me around $200 and it was very easy to install the RAM.

    Hope you get it soon!

I considered that but it was $115 to buy 4 gigs and install it after or $70 more to have it from the factory. In hine sight I should have bought 1 gig, but I was already paying for 1 gig from Lenovo which is $40 right there. So in reality it was ~$30 in savings in the end so not that much cheaper. Are there known issues with 64 bit Vista? I ordered that to fully use the 4 gig of ram but never read to see if there are issues with it  . Also, what is the deal with turbo memory, I read some reviews and it did not make a big difference so I opted out of it because another 1gig of ram could be had for the price and was more beneficial.

I meant 570 since I didn't copy the system specs at time of purchase. I just read the thread about the T61Ps shutting down while gaming. It has me wondering if I should call tomorrow can cancel until the issue is fixed.

Thanks for the replys I will keep it on order :). It's true you always read about the problems more than the happy customers on forums and as with any computer. Lemon hardware is possible so I will get it and see how it goes and if there is a problem well thats what the warranty is for.
