Just bought a Thinkpad T420s for $1049.00, is that worth the money?

I got from lenovo outlet, it's refurbished that I hope it does not have scratch or dents. Here is the specs:

    Intel i7-2640M
    Win-7 Pro
    NVIDIA NVS 4200M
    8GB DDR3
    14.0 HD+
No finger print (I feel kind of bad about this, no have FP)
    160GB SSD
    6 cell
Intel wifi 6300N (doesn't have wiMAX......I saw one has but I was too slow)
    Bluetooth
No 3G (How to upgrade? Do I need to set up the antenna from the screen corner all the way to the bottom WWAN? That will be a long job for me)
    1 year Depot

Kind of happy for the price $1049, but it's a refurbished I am no sure about its quality.....since I know eBay may have better one to buy. Well, what u think? It's my first time for Thinkpad, worth the price? By the way, lenovo charge me tax for $68 which is a pain on me..........

for those specs thats an amazing price
im buying a T530 for 1000 for average specs

for the 3G from what i understnad you just have to buy a gobi (or what they call it ) and install it your self

if the 160 gb ssd is not enough for you (space)
you can remove the dvd drive and install a hard drive caddy for an extra harddrive
you can find thouse on ebay

The only downside of refurbished units is you cannot extend the warranty, only purchased after post warranty which is MUCH more expensive. That is a good deal on a T420s.

Good deal on the system, as the above two said.

As for refurbished, you shouldn't worry whatsoever, especially since it's OEM refurbished. Every one brand-new product out of some large number (1,000 or so) is tested, and if that's good the rest are also assumed good. Each and every refurbished product is tested before being sold. This pretty much applies to all refurbished items, not just laptops.

OMG, I was on the same auction too. Can't believe it's ended with that expensive I thought price should around $800. Since I already bought a Mu.Refu. from lenovo so I didn't pay attention on eBay anymore.

Thanks for your advice, I will be looking on ebay this weekend.

Here is another great deal, u must concern it:

PS: this seller did offer me $1125.00 included tax & shipping, but I didn't accepted it bcz he offer me right after I bought the Lenovo Mun.Fur. one. :)

AFAIK all T420s models are WWAN upgradable (WWAN option) so you don't need to worry about antenna, it should be there; just plug a WWAN modem - there are two options:

    0A36185 - Gobi™ 3000 Sierra Wireless EV-DO/HSPA WWAN Minicard - ThinkPad GOBI 3000 Mobile Broadband | 0A36185 | Lenovo | (US)
    0A36186 - Ericsson HSPA+ WWAN Minicard (F5521gw) - ThinkPad Mobile Broadband Global - Overview

I have the Ericsson card but I'm not sure which one is best for you, you have to check this.

I already bought a Intel 6250 WiMAX to upgrade so I won't need the 3G card anymore since we have free WiMAX here. Thank you for the recommendation.
