I ordered a T400 on 9/12. I have called 3 times, the last being just now, to check on my order status. I had to update my billing info on my bank card because I am shipping to my college apartment, so that took a few days. My original estimated ship date was 9/26, exactly 2 weeks after my order. I was ok with this, as it is the norm with Lenovo. When I called just now they said my order has gone through but is not scheduled to ship until 10/9. This is crap, almost a month after I ordered. I know a few of you guys on here have had to wait a while as well. However I feel this is unacceptable and am contemplating canceling my order and going with an HP, but I really want my T400. Is there any recourse that I have? Or do I just have to sit back and take this unacceptable customer service and extraordinary delays? I'm only 22 but this further illustrates to me the failure of American business....it is sad.

Theyre a Chinese business...
If you go with Dell or HP you'll have your laptop at your doorstep by early next week. Personally, I'm going to order a T400 sometime in the next few days and will wait it out til it gets here. -

I was thinking of canceling my W500 order for the same thing. I need it for school, but i also ordered such a powerful machine so i can play games as well. I could order an American made ... err assembled.. Dell with near the same specs and have it in as little as 3 days, but when i try to configure something with the same specs it is much more expensive through Dell.
The real reason is because Centrino 2/Montivina is soo new that most of dell's line doesnt have it,
Any ways i think you should just wait... in the mean time i am going to go to Fry's and buy a crappy acer or something to get me through for school, and then return it soon as i get my W500... You should do the same, buy one anywhere that has a return policy with no restocking fee.. this is how i try many things out.

Shoulin333, nice idea, my current laptop works for now though so its not worth the trouble. -
I think lenovo needs to get their $@#% together; other companies do not seem to have a problem delivering within a reasonable amount of time.
cbg, I share your sentiments and hope you figure out a workable solution. -
that sucks. mine shipped in a week. i wonder if they prioritize by price/warranty?

Why does lenovo being a chinese business have anything to do with anything? I could understand if you were discussing a small chinese firm that steal designs and completely ignores IP. But Lenovo is an international business...as you know bought from IBM. Just because a business is "american" on the otherhand means nothing. A business can be run poorly regardless of ownership. Do you think GMC or Ford are "american?" Toyota is more american.
It is fine to complain about Lenovo's business practices. I found their order process to be a pain as well for my x200, but please stop the oh too common chinese remarks on Lenovo as I am pretty sure you aren't happy with every "american" company in the world. Poor customer service is poor customer service.
Anyways you could always look for a topseller... -

i wouldn't doubt it... i didn't buy through epp (had to get it through the school site), and i have a 3 year warranty with accidental. they shipped it in a week expedited. go figure.

Im even more irritated because I cancelled my original order in light of a new coupon (went from educational discount to a normal 2 day coupon), but I ended up getting the better processor and hard drive for 20 bucks cheaper...

Thus why the poster mentioned it's a Chinese business... -
Why not just save yourself the grief you are experiencing and get the HP? You are clearly not happy with Lenovo.

Cancel the order and get a Dell or HP in my opinion.. Save yourself further grief..

I had a similar problem.
I ordered my X301 and after 9 days, it was still "In process". Whenever I called, they said that they were "verifying my shipping address".
I canceled my order and ordered it ready-built from an Amazon store, I got the closest one to the configuration I wanted, and ordered the upgrades I wanted separately (namely, 6-cell batt + extra 2GB DDR3 RAM).
And I thank God that I did, these are the pros:
(1) No sales tax was charged.
(2) 3-year warranty (product no. 2776), instead of the 1-year (product no. 2777) with custom built systems.
(3) International warranty, verses only domestic. (never know when its gonna break overseas...)
(4) Even with the extra's, and excluding tax, it was about $100 less (in addition to saving $300 on tax!)
(5) Shipped in two days
The only con was that I will end up with an Intel 5100 WiFi card instead of the 5300. Its no biggie when you consider that you got 2 extra years of warranty and saved ~$400!
I know Lenovo has the worst customer support, ironicly, the also have the best laptops... stick with a thinkpad, just get it from Amazon. -
Been there, done that, hoping for a miracle. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/computers/lenovo.html http://mwco.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Report.aspx?site=160&bbb=0107&firm=1157612
