Whelp, I just received my U310 and decided that the first thing I would do is reformat the hard drive. What I ended up doing was deleting all of the separate partitions (now there is only disk 0 and disk 1) and am installing Windows on the smaller SSD portion. Did I completely screw up by deleting the partitions? Also, I just want to verify but I'm not supposed to install anything on the SSD portion correct? If so, that might explain why it's taking forever to install Windows...

EDIT: Well, Windows failed to install and now I'm left with a paperweight.

All is not lost! What size is the SSD? If it is 16GB, then that is too small for Windows to install onto. You still can install onto the HDD and use the SSD for caching.

If the SSD is 30GB or larger, you can definitely install Windows 7 onto, I am not sure about Windows 8 needing more than 30GB initially. But still, that may be your problem. If it is, make sure to install to the HDD and in your BIOS, make sure that whatever drive you are installing onto is the primary boot disk.
