I just bought the mbp 2.2 couple of days ago but going to return it tonight or tomorrow. The reason being is that I got the one with the yellowish lcd defective one. I am either going to wait for the 2nd batch of mbp to come out or go ahead and buy the T61 14.1 wide. For the T61, I saw that the screen resoultion is the same as the one on mbp 15.4 even though it's only 14.1. What's your opinion on this guys? is the 1440-900 resolution good on the wide 14.1 on T61? Also what are all these configurations. Will the one with the nvidiea good graphics card eat more battery? I need good battery life. I used to use a thinkpad T41 but now the battery life is about 5 minutes haha.
Also, what is the P on T61? What extra does it have?
P.S. Are there any IBM stores in British Columbia (Vancouver, Coquitlam, Burnaby)

When you get your T61, you will start to think that perhaps it was better to keep the MBP. Then you go out to order another MBP. And after you get your second MBP, you will want to exchange for another T61, and so on.
Stick with what you have and work with Apple to resolve that screen issue. Life is too short to get hung up on forever chasing after that ideal laptop. -
Hi there
Sorry to hear about the defective screen
I am personally of the type who really likes greater resolutions, and for me the 1440x900 on a T61 14.1 would be great, but for some it may be too much. It is (to a certain limit) a matter of personal preference. The best advice is of course to go and look at something equivalent, but that may of course not be possible.
I don't know if you will be doing any gaming on it since you're referring to the graphics card (Nvidia), but it will draw more power and give you less battery life, and my estimate would be (judging from various reviews) that you will lose around 20-30 mins with the dedicated card. Maybe there is some guru around who can be more specific on this point
To your last question. The "p" models are mobile workstations with a modified graphics card which is based on a mainstream model. (I.e ATI x1600 and their FireGL 5200). By IBM they are the most powerful graphic cards in the T-series Usually they also carry large resolutions (UXGA WUXGA or maybe WSXGA+) and often 1GB+ of memory -
I've got the 1440x900, and find the font too small...wish I would have picked the regular size screen.

The thinkpad website is really hard to configure and find out what I want. If you guys know could you tell me what model would fit my wanting specs. As for resolution, the 1440-800 on the mbp is PERFECT for my likings. I don't know what it would be like on the 14.1 inch.
at least 2.0 ghz (prefer 2.2 SR) 800 mhz fsb
2 gigs ram
at least 100gb hdd
I don't play a whole lot of games so ideally I'll be ok with a medium graphics card but a dedicated one wouldn't hurt.
widescreen

it will have to interpolate the image to reduce the resolution (blur) -
Precisely. I've done the next best thing and increased the DPI to 150%.
Also, to the OP, the T61 matches your criteria, and a helluva lot cheaper than MBP.
The R61 is essentially the same only heavier. -
What country is Lenovo from? China? I heard that the quality of the notebooks got worse after changing to Lenovo from IBM. What countries are other laptop brands from? I am not talking about MADE IN but the actual brand.
Is the 1440x900 too small or what? Do people like it? Is it similar to the 1400x900 on the mbp? -
Just got a MBP but thinking of exchanging for Thinkpad
