Just got it, woohoo.

hey guys.
So my dell laptop died a couple weeks ago and decided to go in a different direction for a new laptop. All of my peers have started buying Thinkapds and after doing some researcher it seemed to be a great deal to own one. So I ordrered my T400 on 9/17, had it shipped on 9/22 and it arrived on my doorstep yesterday, 9/24. Am I crazy or is Lenovo that fast with their build-to-delivery process of just one week? Anywho just opened it up and I must say this T400 is amazing laptop. If anyone has advice for a Lenovo/Thinkpad newbie please do so without hesitation. Just one question I had was that on the bottom of the casing there is a port or something you could plug a into or maybe dock but theres no cover to it, what is that?

You're right, it's the port to connect to the dock. There's no cover for it.

 

Hey skm430, I'll assume you're in the U.S? Cause that is one hell of a build to delivery time frame. Did you opt to go for the 2 day shipping method or something?

 

yeah Vuong, im in Berkeley, CA and I thought that when I got my estimated 10/1 ship date, I had thought it was reasonable for a 2week build and inspect process until they shipped to me but ****, order, build, inspect, ship and delivered to my doorstep in EXACTLY 1 week!?!? its crazy, Now im suspicious if I got a pre-built computer or a cancelled order or somehthing, but the laptop is amazing nonetheless.

 

and nope, this was standard UPS Ground.

 

My orders from lenovo arrived pretty quickly as well, I don't think you have anything to worry about with it being prebuilt. My first Thinkpad was delivered to me in 7 days(in my hands on the 7th day). My second Thinkpad was delivered to me in about 10 days(with the hard to get 9 cell battery at the time).

 

does it really matter if it was prebuilt? i mean there's only so many ways to configure this sucker and they sell hundreds of thousands.

 

It's unfortunate for us Canadians and how slow it takes for UPS to deliver our T400. The quickest order to delivered time frame is 12 days here in Canada. However, there are the rare exceptions like 7-8 days but those are RARE!

 

yeh i just called lenovo and they said my t400 will ship 9/28, thats over a week sooner than the 10/6 estimate i got online. so i'm hoping shipping only takes two days and i get it sometime middle of next week.

 

yeah good point guys, all i can say is this computer freakin rocks and i have nothing to really stress about at this point. GREAT Purchase for sure. Lenovo did a heck of a job. (p.s. how do i check my panel type, just want to see if i indeed got the samsung on the lg?)
