I'm really excited about receiving my T61 today, but I just checked the website and the price went down about $100. I used EPP, Tailormade, and Fatwallet for the original purchase.
When I bought it the total price was:
$1066.75 + $64 tax - $56.53 (tailormade) - $39.58 (fatcash) = $1034.64
Now I can buy the same specs for:
$977.50 + $58.65 = $1036.15
I know prices are basically the same, but with the new pricing, I would have been able to get $100 more in upgrades.
Is there a way I can pricematch without invalidating Tailormade and Fatcash?

It's $15 cheaper for me (x61s) and I ordered 3 days ago with EPP discount. I wonder if I should call Lenovo and cancel my order and then order re-order it. Their sales department is closed right now so I'll call tomorrow morning.
-
Man, I could have gotten an ultrabay battery or something. I wonder if they can just ship me an accessory instead of pricematching.
Ugh, this makes me mad. I waited 2 months for the best price, and it drops when I open the box. -
Think about it this way; you got your laptop 2 months earlier.
-
Just enjoy and be happy that you got much better value than someone who bought in the winter.
Someone ordering today may not get it until Sept, unless they accept WXGA. So they should pay less than you, as you have yours in hand. -
yep what spoon said... we were typing the same idea simultaneously, he just more succinctly
-
I chose my configuration so it wouldn't be delayed. I'm just mad because I saw basically no price change in the past 2 months, but it just happens to go down $100 the day I receive the laptop. If it went down in 3 weeks, I wouldn't really have cared.
-
I understand. Yep that kinda stings. When did you order it? I've read here that some ppl got the price reduced if it was within a short period of when they first ordered. Search around, maybe you can find a testimonial about a similar situation, and do as s/he did to get a reduction.

I ordered it on July 10th. I think I'm gonna call them tomorrow and see what they can do. Probably nothing, but I should try.
But when I go to my Tailormade account, it says my savings has already been "paid". Does anyone know if they would take that back if I get Lenovo to pricematch? -
-
Well, it says under each option (this may delay blah blah blah). I made sure I picked ones without that warning. And from the forum, I could tell 160GB and Camera orders were delayed.

This will bring up a page with the details and it will also give you a new "order number." Reference that number when you call the rep, supposedly they will give you a refund. At least it doesn't hurt to try. -
Yeah, I read about that, but I'm worried if that will invalidate the Tailormade and Fatwallet refunds. If it does, it's a $1 difference. Which is why I would rather have them leave the price alone but just order me an ultrabay battery. -
Here's an update.
I called Tailormade, and they said if Lenovo credits me back (which they do) instead of changing the original order, my discount will not change.
Fatwallet, I'm still not sure of, but I've emailed them.
And I called Lenovo and asked for price match. He told me to create a quote, but I couldn't because the EPP site is not working correctly. He said that he would try it, but it won't work for him either. So he got my email address, and he said he would do it later when it's working and email me confirmation. -
PS: The shipping date on the quote was 09/05/07 for the exact same thing I ordered. I am very glad it ship out when it did... -
I'm still waiting to hear back from the guy since he can't create a quote for EPP pricing.
I just don't want the coupon to expire. -
Edit: I was able to create a quote, but I didn't order from EPP or anything of that stuff. Just the normal site, so I didn't get any unexpected delays from using other peoples discounts. -
After calling 18669684465, option 4, I got through the price protection p-something. After a short time verifying that the machines were exactly the same (I'm glad I didn't order a intel card with disabled n, that seems to not have resale value) the rep told me that e-mail confirmation will be had within 2-4 business days, and the difference will be credited 8-10 business days. No EPP used.
It's interesting how EPP probably doesn't show up on the final quote. Neither does SPP, but coupon codes appear. Next time a Lenovo ID is leaked, maybe it would be possible to create the quote, convert the quote into an order, and bypass any EPP checks.
I doubt Tailormade or Fatwallet would be able to see the credited difference. They shouldn't share THAT much info. -
I don't think Tailormade or Fatwallet is affected, because Lenovo just credits you money back. They don't change the original order/charge.
Just got my T61, but price went down - what to do? (Tailormade and FW)
