    Specs:
    2.0 Ghz T7300
512 MB (waiting for the 4GB on order)
    nVidia
    14.1 WSXGA+ w/ integrated webcam
    XP Pro
    100 GB 7200rpm
    7 Cell

    First impressions, I'm in love
The keyboard is amazing, unlike any other keyboard i've used
I got the Alps keyboard and the LG screen

The high resolution is very clear and no complaints.

Stuck with XP pro, and thought it would take a while to boot up with only 512 MB of RAM, but wasnt too bad. Overall with 512 it's handling everything pretty well.

Got the traditional IBM logo, :) :) :D
The laptop is light and thin, and i have no regrets on this purchase.

They come preinstalled with picasa now, so theres some webcam software.

    In short, I'm excited! :D

    Congrats,
That is very much like my configuration except I stuck with Vista and I got the 160gb drive. It is really a great keyboard. I don't think I could go to another computer, Lenovo mistakes aside, after getting used to the t61 keyboard. I tried a d630 that someone has at my work and it feels cheap by comparison. It feels like a BMW vs a Honda. Both are manufactured very well, but there is just something more well built feeling about the t61.

Yeah, my friend has a D620 and its uncomparable. The T61 is lighter and thinner, but it feels way more durable.

Just going to have to throw this in, but German cars suck big time. My BMW's transmission died just recently. Although German cars are nice when you first get them they suck long-term. So I am kind of confused what you mean by Honda vs BMW? Which is better? Because I definitely think Honda kicks BMW's ass as of now.

Stunner, Your observation are valid. I just meant by feel of the car. Reliability aside, there is just something more substantial feeling about a BMW. I drive a Civic and it is a great car and I have driven in friends BMWs. There is just a more solid feel to the car. Although I know my repair bill is much less. I have had the t61 for a couple weeks now. So time will tell on long term reliability and we will see if it is closer to a Honda or to a BMW.

Haha I see, yeah I kinda hate BMWs as of now, my family is one car less and its tough carpooling around. The feel of BMWs are great though gotta agree with that.

Funny. I don't see SkiBunny on threads where people are happy with their T61's.

It was real easy too, for anyone worried about the difficulty of installation, don't be, it took me about 3 minutes.

I really wanted the SI, couldn't pull the trigger, had to go with the gas efficiency, even though the SI is one of the more gas efficient performance cars.

Having recently sold my BMW - due to reliability issues, I hope my thinkpad will not perform as my BMW did... This is my second thinkpad (R60e) and I cannot see myself going to another brand, I have seen and felt most mainstream laptops and the thinkpad is in a class of its own.... Unlike the BMW lol

If you buy some old junker Beemer from a college boy racer, then yes, it might get outlasted by your grannie's Civic.

BMW kicks Honda's ass in all aspects. Then it stomps on it and laughs evilly for good measure.

    T61 (to stay on topic).

Well, if my Beemer were acting up like your Thinkpad, I would take it to the dealer and have it repaired under warranty. The dealer would give me a loaner car, and deliver the repaired car to my house at a time convenient to me. I wouldn't try to repair the Thinkpad myself, as - like with my BMW - I've paid for a warranty. I just wish my Thinkpad had a service similar to my BMW 4-yr/50K mile zero-cost ultimate service program. Finally, I'm not sure I can trust the opinion of someone who uses a violent *** crime as a comparison verb.

The BMW we had cost an arm and a leg to keep running. Then again it was not new. Civic hands down better reliability. Only started draining blood last year (no repairs this year yet).

Beginning week 4 tomorrow, waiting for my T61 to get returned from repair. They say they don't have the part. No eta on when they'll get it or when I'll get my T61.
