Yep, just like in the title, just got delivered about 3 hours ago as of this writing.

    Initial impressions:

Solid build quality...no flex at all, anywhere. LCD (part 42T0328) is the Samsung, I belive, but I have no complaints about it. There is a little light leakage at the bottom, but in normal use, I really don't seem to notice it at all.

Screen quality: No real complaints, except as the note above. I haven't really got down to the nitty-gritty of adjusting the thing perfectly yet, but a little digital vibrance from the NVidia control panel cleared things up to a major extent.

UltraNav: Now I have it, I'm not willing to give it up. Have spent most of the time with the TrackPoint, but also have used the touchpad for some things as well. I bought the TrackPoint cap collection, don't think I'll be using anything other than the default.

Wireless: I have a DGL-4500 "Xtreme N Gaming" router from D-Link. Once I configured the settings properly (WPA, AES Encryption, etc.), the ThinkPad connects at 130Mbps with great signal strength. I have the Intel 4965ABGN card in my machine.

Anyway, I'm satisfied with my purchase, and will (eventually) get around to doing a clean install, as soon as I get all the backups, drivers, and utilities gathered together.

From some of the threads I'd been reading, I was a bit worried about the build quality of the machine, even though I realize that in any internet forum like this one, you're far more likely to hear complaints rather than threads that go "Just updating - no problems here".

Still, compared to some of the Lenovos around town I could see (Office Depot has some R61i's on display in several of their stores), my machine seems to be quite solid.

Please post screen pics. Also, what size and resolution is the screen?

Size is 15.4", resolution is WSXGA+ (1680x1050). I'll post pictures as soon as I can, although the pic quality may be a bit lacking.

Unfortunately, the only cameras I have are on my various phones, and they're not exactly the best in the world as far as picture quality goes. I'll give it a shot anyway, though.

Still waiting for mine. Just ordered two days ago.

I'm in Portland too. Where did your's ship from? How long did it take to get to you? Did you order from Lenovo.com? If so, how long from order date to ship date?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Mine shipped from China, through Hong Kong, then Anchorage, then here. I ordered on the 15th of January, direct from Lenovo's website. On the initial confirmation, the estimated ship date was 1/30, so they were right on that time.

    As for specs:

    Processor: Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.2 GHz, 4MB L2 Cache)
    LCD Screen: WSXGA+
    Operating System: Windows XP Pro
    1GB SODIMM DDR2 RAM
    120 GB 5400RPM HD
    Fingerprint Reader
    Intel 4965 ABGN Wireless
    Bluetooth
    BIOS Version 2.09
    Dual Layer 8x DVD Burner
    9 Cell Battery

I've had my T61p for about two months now and I abso-freakin-lutely love it. Best laptop I've ever owned in pretty much all aspects - ergonomics, keyboard (naturally), build quality and functional details such as the ThinkLight and ThinkVantage utility.

    You'll love yours!

Yep, it's a great machine. When funds permit (gotta pay them nasty bills, ya know), going to get some more RAM for the machine, with 1 GB, XP's good, but I figure at least one more GB couldn't hurt, although I might spring for one of those 2x2GB kits, even though I won't be able to use all 4GB in 32-bit XP.

That's a nice machine-Gratz! btw you could also get a 1x2Gb stick for 3gb total, makes more sense on XP.

Also those Samsung screens on Thinkpads are not the Samsungs of old anymore. It used to be everyone dreaded seeing the Samsung on their shipped order form, mainly for the dimness and there'd be quite a number of threads started about it. Now I hardly see any LG vs Samsung posts, at least not in here - the Dells that another matter entirely.

Yep I totally agree with you. I got a Samsung WSXGA+ screen with my new T61, simply beautiful. Crisp and clear, the colors are rich and there isn't a single dead pixel. Hopefully there isn't any variability between lots of these screens.

Probably buying one 2GB stick now and another later if I choose to go 64-bit would definitely be cheaper, yes.

As far as the screen goes, I like it, it's a nice screen, the light leakage is not bad, and I really don't notice it once I'm busy surfing/gaming/etc. It's really only noticeable on boot up.

I have had mine now for 2 months. The machine feels incredibly solid and the performance is spot on!

    Model 6460-8VU
    Processor: Core 2 Duo T7700 (2.4 GHz, 4MB L2 Cache)
    Nvidia Quadro FX570M 512MB
    LP154WU1-TLB1 LCD 1900x1200 @ 60hz
    Tri Boot WinXp-Vista-Ubuntu
    4GB DDR2 RAM
    160 GB 5400RPM HD
    250 GB 7200RPM HD (ultrabay)
    Fingerprint Reader
    Ricoh Card Reader
    Intel 4965 ABGN Wireless
    Bluetooth
    External Logitech DiNovo Edge keyboard
    BIOS Version 2.09
    Dual Layer 8x DVD Burner
    9 Cell Battery

I run Bioshock on it without an issue, good way to spend the time on a long flight (which unfortunately seem to be my life)

The machine is a bit on the heavy side and a bit thicker than my liking, but there is no way that I can really find faults on a machine that is basically more powerful than most desktops.

Did I say I love my box?
