I just received my Ideapad Y550 today. I've only been using it for a few hours, so I can't do an extensive review, but there aren't any yet. The graphics card is indeed a GT 130m despite what the website says. With my student discount and the sale that was going on when I bought it, I got the computer and a three year accidental warranty for under $1200. It appears that you can no longer get the discount on any ideapads unless your school has a deal with Lenovo. I ordered the highest option with the P8700 processor, and the graphics card is indeed a GT 130m despite what the website says. The facial recognition works fine, but it takes about 10 seconds for the camera to turn on so it is faster to just enter in a password. The touch pad is has a nice textured feel, but the multi-touch isn't that great and if my thumb is touching it while it is on the mouse button, the screen will start zooming in and out. The sound is loud, but the speakers don't produce a whole lot of bass. It is a laptop though so its not a huge deal. The headphones though produced rich sound and plenty of bass with my $10 Skull Candys. The screen is fantastic. I played a 720p clip in VLC media player and it looked great. The screen is real bright and colorful. The battery ran for about 2 hours with the screen fully dimmed and the power set at balanced, but I don't plan on traveling with it too much so its short battery life shouldn't be a problem. The out side of the case felt like hard plastic and had the same hexagonal pattern that is on the y650. I squeezed very hard on the outside and was only able to produce very small ripples. The wireless was fantastic, I was able to get 15mb/s download speed from Speedtest.net. There is an a lot of bloatware, but I can always uninstall the programs that I don't need. I plan on downloading the Crysis demo later and seeing how it runs. Its windows experience index is as follows:
Processor- 5.3
Memory(RAM)- 5.9
Graphics-5.9
Gaming Graphics- 5.6
Primary Hard Disk- 5.6
I have included some pictures I took. Sorry for the quality, but I don't have a digital camera and had to use my phone.

Congratulations on the new laptop. It looks great and the hardware sounds impressive. I have a Y510 that I love, only wish the graphic card (Intel 965 Express) was a little better as it stutters sometimes on movies.

Congrats and thanks for the review.

Just got done playing Crysis. It ran perfectly fine on high, but when I bumped up the settings to very high it became choppy. The vent also became very hot, but that didn't surprise me.

Only 2 hours of battery life?? Damn i really wanted this laptop but I think I'll need a longer lasting battery at college.

I noticed others have the Y450 with a white keyboard and this one has the black keyboard. How do we know which one we ordered? I called the Lenovo rep and they stated they are all black but someone mentioned on another Y450 that it was white?

I ordered mine from Lenovo directly. They finally changed the picture on the site to black, whereas the y450 and y650 are both white. I believe that tigerdirect has a white y550, but it is one of the lower spec'd models. I have no idea if either of the other two idea pads come in black as well.
