How long should the "Checking compatibility" section take? It's been running for over an hour.

Seems a bit long. It takes three to four minutes on my R60, which has very similar internals to your T60p sans the GPU. Are you doing it from the recovery discs or a clean install? That could make a difference with all the ThinkVantage stuff.

I got the upgrade disk from Lenovo (I had bought the T60P just before Vista came out and got the free upgrade).

It eventually ended and didn't like Nero Burning Rom, Sonic Studio DLA (it told me to delete them) and to update the Nero Imagedrive SCSI Controller driver. Since I was doing this upgrade on a 250GB cloned drive I swapped in to my T60P just for this evaluation, I didn't mind deleting Nero, which I use often.

It was getting late and I got bored (I was working on this for 6 hours, what with cloning the drive, etc.) so I put the whole thing off until this weekend.

Plus, I LIKE XP and I love my T60P. I got everything running just the way I want so, besides a little curiosity about Vista, I'm really not expecting to switch.
