I ordered it through an academic purchase program. I learned that the case is made out of magnesium alloy for this model. But the screen is not flexview, that I regret. There are other things that I regret too, of course. I couldnt upgrade HD to 100 GB, because it was a pre-built model. And I am not very happy with the graphics card either. I wonder how X1300 would perform against nvidia quadro nvm110?

Seems one can never be 100% happy. My other option was a Dell latitude 620. It has nice features. The case is magnesium aloy. Everything customizable. But the screen on 620 was not SXGA. And the price of an equally configured latitude was 150$ more than the T60. So I decided to go with the IBM.

The X1300 will almost certainly be superior if you want to play games. The Quadro line is made for CAD and such, and does quite poorly with games.

Hard drives can be upgraded. If you want the FlexView you gotta go 15", but it is a little less portable.

That Quadro is a 7300. The X1300 should be somewhat better, but only 64MB can really kill it.

Then the x1300 should handle anything you throw at it...other than the afore mentioned CAD/CAM stuff. If you need a notebook for that, you should always be looking at "p" models. They have workstation vidcards.

I want to buy ThinkPad T60 2007C4U and they are selling it for 1674.16 after tax through academic pricing. The configuration is:
    -Intel centrino Duo
    -80 GB HD -serial ATA-150-5400rpm
    -1GB ram - 667 MHz
    -DVD Writer -Plug-in module
    -5.3 lb
    -14.1 TFT active matrix 1400*1050(SXGA+)
    -ATI Mobility Radeon X1300-64 MB
-Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, IEEE 801.11b, IEE 802.11a, IEEE802.11g
I wanted to go with 2GB of ram but it would be cheaper to get it from other online sites for cheaper price.
Is it easy to install the ram? I have read a couple of reviews on ThinkPad T60 and learned that we have to remove more screws in order to install more ram.
    Thanks for your response.

Irfan, Looks like you got a great deal. I paid about as much for the 2613-EAU (T2400) with 512mb ram.

Wnura- I don't have my laptop yet, so can't say if upgrading the DIMMs is easy or not. It doesn't look difficult- I plan on upgrading my memory myself. Check out the tutorial on Lenovo's support site. http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-63959
