I'm calling in this morning. Too much strangeness.

For what it's worth, here is a screen cap of the Lenovo shopping site with the W510.

They are totally gone now! Seriously, what have you done, tigereat? :D

It's maybe a good sign, since now they knew their information wasn't consistent. Hopefully, we'll get some updates very soon.

Just called in to complete my return of the T400s. After this, I had them transfer me to the sales line. Here's the story:

The site had the new models as "pre-order." Strong demand has put the T/W510 T400s on back order. This is pretty confusing, but the net is that you can't order/pre-order these models for the time being.

I asked them if the date on my W510 order is still accurate at 2/16 and he said it was.

As for the video card, the sales person's "PS Reverence Sheet" shows the FX880m only. I told him that the card listed is likely different. I also said that my order, along with others, is pending on information on the video card.

He said he would research with the product specialists and get back to me.

All pretty useless, but it is what it is.

It is a pretty vague excuse. Can't imaging any companies don't want to have you committed to buy their products which will delay for 4 weeks up.

I just ordered a T410s yesterday, thinking the sale (supposed to go on until today!) made it a great time to jump in. My "ship date" is now 2/17/10.

What happens while we wait? If there is a better sale, or a change in available components, how difficult is it to change or cancel an existing order? Given the weirdness of today's product disappearances, I really don't know what to expect or believe from Lenovo now.

This is my first post - thank you to you all for such valuable insight during the buying process.

It will kill it. The quadro 770m beats the 1600m and 3500m without overclock in 3d mark 06 at the same resolutions.
The 880m will just smash it up and the 1700m. it will be close to the quadro 2700m/9700 GTS 3d score.........

Interesting. I guess I'll look at selling off the 8710W then.

Oh, and I called in on my W510 this morning to get the docking station switched from the 10U to the 20U, and was able to add a 3 year onsite warranty. Unfortunately, I went from 1/17/10 to 1/28/10 to 2/19/10

Looks like the NVS5100 may be a decent performer but the NVS3100 looks to be a slouch....that stinks.

Nice find a_afra. It looks like my order stays in play. The 5100M should suffice.

My confusion remains tho. In the current driver pack, the GPU ID on the 3100M maps to:
    NVIDIA_DEV. 0A6C.01 = "NVIDIA Quadro NVS 170M"

The FX 880M has 48 cores as well. Will the 5100m will map to it?

Nvidia: One model per GPU please!

I think "NVIDIA Quadro NVS 170M" was just a preliminary name. Quadro FX 880M and NVS 5100M should have different device IDs. It seems that the 5100M is a variant of the GeForce GT 240M, the specs are identical. Maybe the 880M has a slightly higher frequency.

Just bought new W510 from Lenovo. They said. free two day shipping... for two days the product sat in Shanghai waiting for shipment, then Lenovo changed the two day shipping to 10 day. If you buy a computer a need it fast, pay for overnight shipping!
