Go to the lenovo website, there is a way you can type in the number and check out the manufacture. hmmm just can't find the site at the moment.

Lenovo does not make the LCD. I was thinking that someone may know what manufacturer supplied the FRU# 42T0412 LCD Screens.

Just go to the main Lenovo website and click "Outlet Products", there are alot of T61's on sale from cancelled orders and un-opened returns.

42T0412 is not a FRU number. You need to wait till your machine serial shows up on Lenovo Parts Lookup site before you can tell which LCD you got.

I have the serial number, and when I plugged in the parts lookup site the FRU# was 42T0412

Can you upgrade the warranty of those ones in outlet? I don't see any of them with warranty more than a year.

If it's an unopened return your deal is good if it inclides sales tax and S&H. You can get a warranty upgrade but it may be priced higher than bought through the web. Not sure.

It should be un-opened. Shipping was free, but I'll have to pay sales tax.
I notice it is almost the same exact specs as yours, minus the 7200 RPM drive and 1GB RAM. How is your performance and battery life? Any problems with Vista?

You got a good deal if it includes sales tax. I have no basis for comparison to another Vista system but will say I use another lappy with a much more lower CPU and only 1GB on XPSP2 that is snappier. It's not the hardware but Vista and I got rid of all the crap like Norton that was on the system. Not sure a clean install will make that much of a difference unless you leave off the ThinkPad utllities. Still w/ the exception of a few quality control issues on the part of Lenovo the T61 is a very good notebook. The 7 cell seems to take forever to charge but quick to drain. I really havent timeed the battery life but would preliminarily say its withing specs. Would say the battery protruding out the back makes it awkward at least for me. On RAM I ordered with 1GB and ran it like that for 2 days. The extra 2GB made a difference. Get it from place like Newegg or directly from Crucial.

I used the outlet as well. Check out these specs. Tell me what you think.

    T61 14.1 w/o cam. wxvga 1440x900.
    T7500
    1 gig 1 stick 5300 ram
    160gig 7200rpm.
    3100 integrated graphics
    4965 agn wireless w/ bluetooth
    Windows XP Pro
    7 cell battery
And.. the unexpected gimme ... Office 2007 Pro.

    $760 plus tax. Free Shipping.

My first thinkpad. Previous laptop was a 15.4 gateway. Battery doesn't even last an hour.

Wish it would have had discreet graphics. The outlet changed their interface and it didn't say what kind of graphics it had.

Definitely love the T61. My super pi calculations were 54 seconds. Hootie Hoo!!!!!

That's a great deal! I had to have the camera and discrete graphics, or else I might have snagged that one myself. :)

The pricing sure is funky in the Outlet, there seemed to be many systems with less specs than mine at a higher price. It had my original price at only $1600 too, which is way less than if you configure the same one now. Maybe it was a EPP or CPP return/cancellation?

That's a sweet deal for $700+. Wished the outlet extends to Canada cuz I know quite a few ppl who'd jump on the deals there.

Jeez. Why are these laptops at such good prices?

They are essentially.. brand new computers aren't they?

Returned laptops for whatever reason depreciates the value significantly because the computer is technically not "brand new". Not by law anyways.

That's not always true, some computers are sent back unopened. Those go under the "new" category in the Lenovo outlet.
