I ordered all the relevant accessories and maxed options for everything on each. I've enjoyed my T61p, W510, and I hope they impress as well. I heavily considered the 4500 dollar Sony Z, but got both Lenovos for less though I have to buy a larger SSD. I also hope there is a way to install Win8 on the tablet after it's released...

It was, but everything was at the GSA price or better... BTW, I'm not retiring the W510, it will take on desktop duty in my lab.

The purchase was inspired by my needing something very capable, but more portable. I'm tired of lugging that big power brick and huge W510 around through airports etc. On the tablet, my Center is pushing iPad's like they are the 2nd coming, I want to demonstrate that there is more than one option to my colleagues. Hope it works!

    Referring to the Android version.

Hereafter, let it be known that ThinkPad Tablet now refers to the Android version only and ThinkPad Tablet PC must be used to refer to other Tablets going forward. LOL! We now need a glossary sticky! LOL!

Why not ThinkPad to the ire of Apple? We should drop Tablet and Android after all it is a ThinkPad! LOL!

    Do you have one?

Doh, i hit a snag! IT doesn't have the infrastructure to secure and manage Android based devices at this time. MY TABLET WISH IS KAPUT! iOS is our gold standard (only option) for now, at least at my site. That's making me rethink the laptop order. The Air 13, Z Series, and X1 are now on my radar. When I was getting both the 14 in and 10 in screens we complimentary. Now though, considering I don't want an iPad 13 in seems to be the way to go.

At any rate, help me decide! Share your experiences with the units above!!! I want both pros and cons and have to get the order placed asap. Fiscal year is almost over...

    So........

The answer was the same as the original answer. I ordered the T420s. I'm hoping that the screen is the best of the bunch. If it's not, I'll send it back for the X1. I'd love to have had the X1 with 1600x900 or higher, but since that didn't/doesn't exist the T420s won out by a landslide. I briefly considered bootcamp'ing an Air 13, but decided that the mSATA HD possibilities would be too fruitful to pass up. Three spindle ultraportable... Unheard of! Hopefully, this order flies and the screen is tolerable, as I don't want to think about this anymore, LOL!

BTW, that Sony Z Series seems to be about the most brittle laptop I've ever handled. Two seconds after laying hands on it, I knew it was a no go! While it is exceedingly thin and light it comes off as very fragile. Luckily we had a Sony Store nearby.

The ThinkPad Slate Tablet is unlikely upgradable to Win8 ARM.

Also why is iOS the only supported mobile OS? If your company uses Exchange, the ThinkPad Slate Tablet supports server management of the device (including remote wipe). It also supports AnyConnect VPN, same as iOS.

Both use the same licenses for Exchange and Cisco AnyConnect VPN as well.

Also, the bay battery option is very useful for boosting the battery time without increasing the size of the machine.

Excellent point. I included a bay battery with my order.

I know we use Cisco AnyConnect clients on our PCs for remote intranet access, and that we use exchange for email. Could be laziness, or simply slow to adopt regarding the other OS's. Suffice it to say that I work for an entity (public sector) that takes cybersecurity to heart. After a version is released with Win8, I'm sure the TP will be adopted, but until then WebOS, Android, or RIM get no joy.

about Windows 8, I'm not looking forward to it...

something tells me that the changes won't be perfected until win 9

think about the transition from win XP to win 7... skipping Vista was a good option for many. I think this will be the case with win 8.

Forever the early adopter... I am really looking forward to Windows 8. I never had issues with Vista that were not easily resolved. ...and I ran the beta and RCs leading up to release. Don't get me wrong, Windows 7 was better. I guess I'm willing to suffer the growing pains...

Well, here we go again, another hurdle for my order... We have over 1000 ThinkPads here, ordered from Lenovo mind you... And, my order gets held up due to Lenovo not having our tax exempt cert on file... Is this a sign that I should wait until fall before purchasing? or that I should just go with the Sony S-series? Hm...
