I just ordered my first laptop, which I plan to use full time as a desktop replacement. :D

    R61 Specs:

    14.1"
Vista Basic (I'd have disabled Aero in premium anyway)
    Core 2 Duo T7300, 2.0Ghz, 4MB L2
1GB RAM (I plan to buy a 2GB later on)
Nvidia Quadro NVS 140, 128MB dedicated video memory
    120GB HD
    7 cell battery
Total: $1,136 before tax, $1,204 after.

The order date was today, 9/7, and the estimated ship date is 9/26!! I can't go without a pc for that long. :( My desktop is broken and I'm using my sister's low-end pc without the ability to run programs I need to keep myself busy for a while. Like photoshop, netbeans, some games etc. Are they having supply issues?

Also, does anyone have some comments about my system? So I feel a little better about all the money I spent. ;) The R series seemed to only differ in ounces of weight and like 0.1 inches of size... why would it be almost $200 cheaper is what I want to know. There aren't many reviews of the R61 on the site, I might submit my own because I like this sites thorough reviews.

Congrats, I’m sure you’ll be happy.

Here’s one of the few good links I found from another member that compares the R with the T: http://www.tpuser.idv.tw/articles/santarosa-test-2.html

$200 gets you a copper heatsink and a bit more status, if that’s important to you.

My T61 had a similar estimated ship date time (2.5 weeks after the order date), and it actually shipped out ~3 days after I ordered it.

The R series is good, and the T61 and R61 have very similar construction. I paid a fairly minimal extra cost to get a T61 when I ordered my config.

can someone tell me if this r61 will have an s-video out. i have found mixed reviews with pictures of some of them with an s-video and some without. i just thought it would be handy to have one built into the laptop.

I ordered the same exact laptop as you, except with the basic 4 cell battery for $882 + tax. This was in late August tho, so I guess prices went up quite a bit since then...

Anyway, it took exactly a week from the day I ordered it to the day I got it, even tho the ESD was about 18 days, so I'm sure you'll get it quicker than that.

since this laptop doesnt have an s-video out what would be the easiest way to connect it to a tv. i just thought that it would be handy because my dads going to be using it alot and he has a hard time reading stuff.

i called them back up today and its waiting for authorization :\ its not on hold though the rep told me that. he said wait until Monday so hopefully it will go through then ive never had a problem from any other sites with my debit card so i dont know why its taking so much longer from Lenovo.
