I am so excited. Its my first Thinkpad and coming from a 5 year old sony laptop, I am ready for something more robust.
    Here are the specs:
    P8700 (2.53 GHz)
    Vista Business 64
    14.1 WXGA+ w/ Camera
    ATI 3470
    4 GB DDR3
    250 GB Hard Drive
    DVD Burner
    Bluetooth
    Intel 5300
    6 cell battery

    Total Cost: $1,126.28 through CCP
Now all I have to do is wait...
Which reminds me, about how long does it take for my new laptop to ship?

Congratulations, I'm sure you'll love the machine. It's very well configured.

Usually, if there are no backordered parts, you should receive it within 2 weeks; I received my T500 in little over a week, counting weekends, when UPS does not deliver.

Thanks thats good to know, though I've heard that it is sometimes it can take weeks before getting shipped out.
Also, its because of NBR that I decided to get a T400 and I looked around and realized it is the best choice for college

Congrats airmax951! You have a nice config and I think you will love your Thinkpad. I know that I love mine :)

I ordered from Lenovo twice and I got one machine in 7 days(at my door) and another in 10 days(probably would have been sooner but I had ordered it with a 9 cell battery that was in short supply).

No, by the specs you can tell it's a T400, not a T400s. The T400 can have switchable graphics and P-series CPUs, while the T400s uses only integrated graphics and low-voltage processors.

Also, the price is far from the price of a T400s ;)

No. :) SP != LV; its an ordinary P with just a smaller package size (25W TDP; 22x22mm).

if i were you, i'd take the 2GB single dimm and buy a second stick from newegg for under $30. i'm pretty sure that saves you like $30-50 from what I remember and I ordered my t400 when the cpp had additional savings. other than that i hope you're happy with your t400 when it comes. mine shipped and arrived really fast, i think in a week! i imagine the 4-cell will drain really fast because i have the 6-cell and it estimates about 3 hours during normal use and in power-saving mode, but if you're gonna be plugged most of the time it's no big deal.

hmm i was under the impression that the 4-cell lasted about 3 hours on power saving mode. I hated the way the battery sticks out on the 6 cell so i went 4-cell. But if battery is going to be this horrific then i might cancel my order and go for the 6-cell. The 3GB was a $0 upgrade for me so it kind of made more sense.

Hopefully i get a shipping confirmation this week.

Do you have a delivery estimate? I don't have one and was wondering if that was normal. And I guess mine is in the U.S., I just don't know where, lol.

Edit: Just got released from Customs :)

    update on order.
Just got the confirmation email saying my order has been shipped. But it says on the order status page "In process". The email said that tracking numbers will be added to the site in 24 hours. Does UPS Ground have tracking?

Lenovo's order status page has been known to be notoriously inaccurate. I just waited for my email that said my order was shipped and didn't worry about it. I just used the tracking number for UPS to find out when the package would arrive.

Personally, I'd pay an additional $400 to get the T500 w/ T9900 cpu, 4GB, DVD writer, 15" LED, 9cell bat, Vista Ultimate, wifi 5300, camera, finger, and better ATI GPU. That's way more bang for the buck.

the size of the T500 was what killed it for me. Im using it mainly for school. So it would be a pain to lug around the T500 everywhere. But i do agree thats its the better deal.

    I have a T400 with a 9-cell and I get 7-8hrs battery life with casual usage. I'd imagine a 6-cell would be around 5hrs and a 4-cell around 3hrs, which isn't too bad for the size.

I don't quite understand the UPS tracking system. When it says "Status: Delivered Origin CFS", what does that mean? Also it quotes the mass of the package to be more than 300kg. And one more thing, it shows the destination as Ontario, Canada, but I live in BC. For Canadian posters here, is this normal?

    Thanks

    Got my T400!!
Just ran PC Wizard and the LCD is LP141WP1-TLB8, I googled it and it's a LG screen :) The horizontal viewing angle is superb, but it's bleeding a little at the bottom (not too noticeable :p) Vertical viewing angle...not so good...but it's not like I'm going to move up and down while using it
Will post some pics after I image my drive and update all the stuff ;)

It seems that Lenovo Canada changed the configurations slightly after August 3rd. You do get the free privacy filter now, but they've removed the WXGA+ LED B/L option and the slowest processor is the P8700. Weird.

it actually ended up being quite cheaper....with the P8600 it gave me a 1100+ pre-tax and now with the same config and a P8700 i got it for about $100 cheaper

but the disappearence of the WXGA+ w/LED was a let down.....was looking forward to adding that

I got the same problem (I'm in Canada).

This means that a bunch of Thinkpads arrived in Canada together, including yours. There is no way with it to track the shipment of your specific Thinkpad to your door, unless Lenovo is able to provide you with one.
At this point, mine took 5 days to come from Ontario to Montreal.

The order status page says that the estimated ship date is 8/19 and I ordered on 8/07, to those who have ordered from lenovo before, how long did it take for you to get your thinkpad? Because I got a confirmation email on 8/09 saying my order has been shipped. my order does come with the privacy filter though.

the shipping confirmation was probably for the filter.

At least you have an idea of when your system is set to ship. My order/customer numbers dont work with the order status page because their 10 digits each. But based on your info of the ship date, im guessing im going to get mine shipped on 8/22.

Anyone know what the schedule date is on the confirmation email?

Hooray! I got my privacy filter in the mail today. Now all that needs to get shipped is the laptop itself. I still haven't received the confirmation email for the laptop itself to be shipped.
