And the delivery is next working day i.e. TOMORROW - I can't wait! The spec. are modest, but it has the TMD ultralight screen :D

    ThinkPad X60s
    Intel Core Duo L2400 1.66GHz
    1 GB DDR2 SDRAM
    80GB 5400RPM
    Fingerprint Reader
    Vodafone Wireless Broadband Access (WWAN)
    Bluetooth
    Intel 3945a/b/g
    3 year warranty
    Windows XP

Ok it's maybe a 'last year' for many, but I am really happy! The alternatives were x60s/x61 and after some thinking and searching forums I decided tha I don't really need all the power of a faster processor, and the new platform.

The tasks I need the laptop for are easy - typing essays, surfing web, chats, emails, and little old games such as mario if anyone still remembers :) and it seems that the power of x60s should be plenty. The only thing I will be adding is the second GB of RAM.

I was also thinking of t60, mainly because of the optical drive, but the weight of x60s was a more of a factor since I will be taking it with me everywhere, from university lectures to photo trips to store the raw files.

Anyway, I think these little thinkpads are the best ulrtraportables out there, and I am so happy to finally get one!

    :) :) :)

Cong. on the purchase and I can feel for your excitement since I had the same experience about 2 months ago.

However, I was immensely dispointed by the UL XGA screen made by TMD so the machine went back to Lenovo in 3 days. Among the last 10 laptops I have owned in the past 3 years from various brands, X60s ( at least my particular machine) easily has the worst screen in terms of contrast, viewing angle, light leakage and screen evenness. Probably I had a lemon, I do not know.

On the positive side, using X60s is a very pleasant experience, definitely one of the best ultraportables on the market with very affordable price tag(at least in US here). I do think it's a pity I have to return it due to unbearable screen quality and I wish you better luck :)

Well, poor screen quality is something that I had to compromise with so I'm not expecting IPS ;) ultralight will at least be brighter. When I was deciding which laptop to buy sony and asus where the competitors but reliability of a thinkpad is more important for me than screen quality as I want this laptop to last at least next 3 years till I finish my degree. Plus I hate glossy screens, and frankly any matte will always be inferior to glossy.

Dont they make you pay 15% restocking fees now to return?

my X60screen was about on par with the T60, tho obviously small. A little small for me to use for long period of time, tho other X60 users are comfortable all day with it. I tried it before buying and screen was fine for 30 minutes, but when I got it, I found the screen bothered my eyes in an hour or two.

I guess in UK we have so called 'consumer rights' which seem to apply generally giving you the right for full refund without cause upon the return of the product within first 7 days. Handy ;)

You mean your eyes were getting tired or just annoyed by the size of the screen?
