I read on notebookcheck that the quality of the screen isn't great in that it can be faded compared to other notebooks its size. Not sure if they are just being picky, I wasn't even aware it was a glossy screen until the last moment, which is too bad, but I guess I'll get used to it. Anyone with the x201 care to comment on the screen quality?

There should never be a glossy screen...

If you're using your laptop to do work, then it is perfectly usable.

What do you mean there should never be a glossy screen? Do you mean there should never be a *problem* with them? Sentence not making total sense to me, unless you're against them, but your next sentence contradicts that idea. Sorry, just looking for clarification.

X201 does not come with a glossy screen. In your original post, you mean that you weren't "aware it was a glossy screen" but that is not possible.

Sorry, I meant what fusionist clarified. There is no glossy screen option. So we don't really know what you're talking about.

That being said the screens on the x200/1 are not amazing by any means. So as I said, if you're just looking to get work done on a laptop, then it will suffice.

I personally don't care that much about the laptop screen as long as I can read what I need to. I have a nice 24" IPS for when I consume media and do photo work.

Even matte displays look glossy from extreme angles, looking at it straight on (the most important usage case) will show it's matte qualities. The glossiness from side angles is actually a benefit to privacy. With low brightness and the right angle, a friend of mine thought I had some kinda privacy filter on my screen because he couldn't see a thing on it.
