If you are not buying a tablet it will be 10% + 10% + 10%.
Here is how I did it:
1. Goto Visa.com find the Lenovo link under their shopping section and click on it. This gives you 10%.
2. Configure your system and use the coupon: USPTHINK48HR. This gives you 5% for tablet or 10% for others.
3. At the page where you pay for the system (where it ask you for your credit card number), donot pay and DONOT enter your credit card info, instead generate a quote using the link on the bottom. Call lenovo sales with the quote number and ask for a discount "Can you give me a discount on this?". This will give you another 10%.
4. Give credit card info and pay for it (I don't think it needs to be Visa at this point). But do it for extra 1 year warranty.

FYI it's 5% on non-tablet x220 as well
Still, thanks for posting!
-
Its a good discount, but its pretty penny for an i5/768 res/Intel graphics.
But still, good discount! -
CostCentral has a very similar config (320gig hdd 7200rpm) for $1274.53, best of all, no tax (unless you are in CA, and some other state).
-
I don't see any button that allows you to generate a quote.
-
-
At the screen where u are asked for your credit card number, scroll all the way down to the bottom.
-
Yea, I thought it was in the page right after you generated the quote. If I can get what you posted, I'll cancel my existing of 20% off and reorder.
-
Also your price has to be above a certain amount to get the reps 10% discount. Two different reps told me they can't give me that discount because my price was already so low (used another method, not Visa).
And remember, ask if they can also give you 2-3 day shipping for free. Worked for me -
...........
-
Now that you mentioned about the free shipping upgrade, I should have asked if he can throw in a free year of accidental protection lol. -
I already got the 10% from the reps on top of the Visa discount. What I didn't realize was to ask for the 5% USPTHINK48HR discount to be stacked on top of that. My X220 came to $923 after the discount so like you said, they may not be willing to give more.
dreamwonder, who was your rep? I sent you a pm but didn't hear back. -
I called two different reps as well, but none was going to give me the discount. So as of today, I have two options
1. Go with Costcentral.
2. Custom order.
I live in CA, so I get taxed with either options. And both has free shipping
The difference is that Costcentral is about $50 more expensive.
But with Costcentral, I get the 3 year warranty instead of 1 from Lenovo.
With Costcentral, it comes with finger print reader and webcam. The custom build from Lenovo, I configured it without these two features since I don't use them.
Hmmm...so now I'm not sure what I want to do here. I was hoping for more savings but I guess I'm hoping for too much. -
^^^ I suppose you'll get the X220 in a few days from CC. And the 3 year warranty is worthwhile. (Return/exchange might be simpler with CC. Just a thought.)
The fingerprint reader and webcam could be neat features to highlight when, some years down the road, you decide to sell the thing. -

I'm not sure if what the OP wrote is legit since he seems to be unwilling to share which rep who gave him that deal.
For those of you who haven't ordered, you can get 10% off the Student/Visa price (20% off main site) through the rep a couple of others and I have used. Don't ask for 20% off main site price, ask for 10% off Student/Visa/Employee price. If all else fails ask him for the deal he gave Jarrett and Somu/Vig.
Easiest way to get a hold him is through chat. His id is _
For multi-touch tablet buyers, 4296-2WU is an amazing deal that's probably impossible to beat through Lenovo considering the specs, warranty and no tax. Cost Central doesn't have anything to do with the warranty, all X220 and X220T pre-configs in tabook have a 3yr warranty. -
COSTCENTRAL shopping requires DRIVER LICENSE and CREDIT CARD copy.
be aware! -
Tried the above method from OP, got as far as the check out quote and noticed by chance, that the Operation System was SPANISH
confused: ) not English. Thought I did something goofy, tried again with another quote making sure the OS on the sales site did not say SPANISH but once again it did at the check out area.
Of course the sales department is now closed so I could not speak to anyone regarding this, I think, Typo.
Now I have two quotes to cancel or ignore -
That OS goofiness happened on the first day too. If you do Win Pro it says 'config invalid.' (can't generate a quote when it gives this error) If you use Win Home, you get Spanish.
Just go with the Spanish config to generate the quote and see if you find anyone that'll give you what the OP says. If they do, just order it when they've fixed that problem. Fyi, they're open till 9 est. -
Just a quick question regarding a quote obtained. I have two quotes now with different configurations and no credit card information was given on the site. How can one cancel these two quotes if I don't want them ? No where to select cancel anywhere. Phone call on Monday or just ignore them ?
-
It's just a quote. Don't do anything and it'll expire after some time.
-
Thank you vinuneuro.

I did not give my credit card number. I'm not that stupid/slow just yet.
( Might be a little off from time to time )

-
I just did an online chat on lenovo website with one of the rep
I gave him the quote which i already applied for the 10%off and 5%coupon.
I asked him to give me another 10% on top of the 10% i already got
but he asked me whether i have applied for the coupon yet? and said
only 1 coupon can be applied.. So he wont give me
Sad.
There is no option to choose specific rep to chat also. -
When you get a rep, just ask to speak to another. "Can you please transfer me to ?" and they'll transfer you
-
oh thanks a lot
Just placed a order with 10% + %5 + 10% discount for a x220T
