You want to opt for the larger battery. It will make the battery time about five hours, but push the weight over three pounds. It also sticks out from the back a little bit. You may want to consider an external optical drive if you plan on watching any DVDs or burning any discs while on the road. I'd get one that is usb powered so you don't have to carry an adapter. I personally use a backpack for my T42, but that is a little heavier. Don't forget to post your thoughts after taken her around the blocks a few times. Good Luck.

Yea I think I'll get the 8 cell as soon as I play with it for a week or so....The optical drive is out, I really don't need it with my powerhouse desktop. I can't wait till it gets here, gonna be nice to do my work when I need to hehe. Hows yours? Like'n the IBM build quailty?

    Any other ideas out there

Loving it! I actually just got mine a few weeks ago after getting rid of my T41. I had considered a few others like the Fujitsu s6231 or the Asus z71v, but went the T42. After years of having at least four computers at once, I'll be down to one. I decided if I was going to have only one, I wanted awesome service cause if it breaks, I'm without a PC until it comes back. The few times I had to call IBM, I don't think I have ever put on hold. I did have a problem with my keyboard once, I called in the morning and had the replacement the next day.

Nice service it seems, I'm really glad I made the leap and bought it...can't wait to start in on it when it gets here.

And I can say so far my experience with IBM has been great.
