I have a quick question. In the system properties window it says that I have a 1.73 Pentium M and then my question. It also says 795mhz followed by 1.25gb of ram.

Does the 795mhz indicate the speed the 1.73 Pentium M is running at? Does IBM default to speed stepping? What does the 795mhz mean?

I got my fingerprint reader setup and running. I feel like I'm a Mission Impossible character.

My brother has the T42 without fingerprint recognition. Needless to say, he will not have any of his fingerprints registered. He's upset!

You are correct. It states that you have a 1.73 GHz processor...but at the moment, your processor is running at 795 MHz. It would appear that it is being SpeedStepped to its lowest speed... you should only see a speed that low if you're running on battery, I beleive.

Yes, the 795Mhz that you're seeing is the speed that 533MHz FSB Pentium M chips run at on their lowest settings. The speed is supposed to be 800MHz, but there's always a little variation.

Once you've had it a while, it won't seem like a big deal.

I run my T42 at 230mhz (or something close to this) on battery power.

Yep. It's the way it should be. Mine is a 1.8GHz T42, running at 593MHz when idling. Put it under stress and it will rise to 1800MHz in no time.
