If you have Windows why not move the Taskbar to the right or left of the screen! This way it gives you more space to move up and down which is needed more then left to right! Who agrees with me on this one?

Yes, this is a common placement among new Windows 7 users - it looks good, and it works very well in Windows 7. Doesn't work quite so well in Windows XP and Vista, though.

The text labels are cut off in Vista/XP. Because 7 defaults to a dock style design, it works fine in any location.

I still like it though lol. If only I can get the Vista bar to always be transparent on in Windows 7. Why is it only transparent on desktop and as soon as you open up a Window the transparency goes away?

There are some vista themes on deviantart.com and other sites that have transparent taskbars. I'm too tired to look for them, so you'll have to search for them yourself.

Putting the task bar on the left and putting an object dock or IM client on the left in "always on top" brings your work area to close to 4:3.

I read somewhere that only about 3% of Windows users ever moves the taskbar to anywhere else than the bottom of the screen. Just a fun fact :)

I'd like to do this, but the bar doubles in size when you move it to the right or left edge. Is there any way to keep it the same width (i.e. ~1cm from the edge of the screen)? If it would do that, it would definitely be better.
