Well, I had been thinking of buying a Thinkpad quite some time. Atlast I had recieved my T60 15' flexview yesterday. mmm, as soon as pressed powere button I have noticed something like a dead cell on the left corner, not quite sure what it is. I have attached the picture of my laptop. If some one could help me to identify then that would be great. That would help me to reaturn the laptop soon and get the new one.

    Thanks,
    Kannan

A lot of companies do not exchange for a single dead pixel. It is a nature of the beast.

You can return it for any reason within the 30 day period. Dead Pixel Buddy will tell you if it is a dead/stuck pixel.

Please note there are lot of ripples around a single white dot on the left corner. Does the dead pixel would create a ripples around it?

Is the color quality set to 32 bit? Perhaps a driver update. Could you post another non blue picture.

That is not a dead pixel. That is related to screen resolution. I presume you see it only on the Windows logon screen and not on your desktop.

What is your screen resolution? I have a WXGA and a WUXGA and it is smooth without such sharp ripples.

I had the same issue when I bought the DV1000 with WXGA.

I do not see any dead pixel on the screen. The ripples could be minimized by switching the color quality to 32 bit from 16 bit. It is not a faulty screen based on the screenshot.

haha, kannansalem, that's just the way the windows logon screen looks, it has nothing to do with your computer.

I'm not sure why microsoft did that, but it does that on every laptop I've had. It's only on that screen though, and it's not indicative of any problem. You've probably just never paid that much attention to that screen before.

I got worried the first time I noticed it, too, but certainly don't return your t60 for it - you wouldn't be happy with the next one that comes either :p

Yep what Jmmmmm said. Its just the login screen it has a little swirl right there. It looks like that on every computer.
