Hey guys... I just got a T410s from the Lenovo outlet sale.... it has
    i5-520m
    4 gb ram
    250 gb hd
    integrated video
    1 year warranty

he is the kicker, the laptop looks perfect, only issue i have found

    1. ONE dead pixel
    2. The fingerprint reader looks broken (no big deal, since I dont use it, and dont plan on it)

Should I keep this and invest another 350 on an SSD and a bay battery (like I have on my x301) or should i pass and give this to my wife....

The things I like better on the x301

    1. The finish is nicer (though mine is scuffed up)
    2. The size is a bit skinnier and nicer
    3. The keyboard ... for some reason I LOVE the x301 keyboard and like the T410s keyboard (may need to be broken in?)

Anyone own both care to chime in...

I know everyone is wondering... I paid 860 shipped...

broken fingerprint reader? should get that fixed.

I like the X301 for the portability and small size, it have the best balance of feature and usability from both T400s (which is what i got) and X200.

Whether or not you should keep it, depends on whether the X301 is still meeting your daily needs. If it does then why not keep on using it?

Why not? Because I like new things :) .... but you are right it does meet my needs, but my wife needs a new laptop so I get to chose which one I would like to keep

Also I am worried about sending this off for repair ... I have seen some laptops come back with scuffs and stuff, and honestly i have NEVER used the darn thing, and I dont plan on reselling... maybe they will just get me a credit and make me happy...

without a service case on the FPR and someone trying to determine if the reader is truly faulty, not much can be done by the sales department.   if it is determined to be faulty then service will simply send you a new palmrest that you can install yourself.

i suggest you call service at 800-426-7378 to troubleshoot your FPR.

I always thought the x301 was the better of the two. Better form factor, less weight too.

    X2 !

If I had to choose which machine to keep out of those two, I'd keep the X301.

The hot air coming from the vent is something of a byproduct of using high spec CPU and gpu, there is no avoiding it.
