I don't want to signup another account that I am not going to use afterword, why don't they just use disqus like alot of blog does these day.

The question I was going to ask is why didn't the X1 have a HD+ option and why Lenovo decide to use HD instead HD+ as the standard screen size.

I think he means NTSC gamut...

Anyone ever thought about a matte screen protector?

all you did was list your personal grocery list of complaints.   it's no wonder he skipped over it.   how about asking a question instead like the title suggests?

    just a thought...

I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat, but you have to remember Lenovo makes its money selling to corp, gov and edu. They care most about unit cost and compatibility, which means that dog don't hunt.

Perhaps if you spend a few moments considering the things you like or admire about your X220 instead of focusing on everything that is wrong with it, you'd appreciate it more and in general be a more happy person.

Oh, you forgot paper towels too. :D

I don't see anything wrong with a wish list. If you don't ask, you aren't likely to get what you want.

I think it's pretty obvious the X1 could be improved. It will be interesting to see how Lenovo responds with the X2 or whatever it's going to be called in the next generation.

Is it possible to make Gorilla Glass with a matte finish?

I guess the question was implied. Why'd they miss the mark by such a gaping margin? :D

In what part of that post am I complaining about the X220. If the search function ever gets fixed here, you can do quick search to find my posts praising and defending it.

Where did I say you were complaining? I said you were focused on the negative as opposed to the positive. Though the X220 is not perfect, the positive greatly outweighs the negative in my opinion.

The number of people who want a notebook similar to the one propose is so small it's not worth Lenovo pursuing in my opinion.

    P.S. - Watch the language.

Where in this do you see negative comments about the X220? All of it is about the X1, which is a total failure when you put it against the X220 and T420s.

The notebook proposed is a 13.3" X220 with a HD+ screen. You really don't think there's a market for a such a product? Just because I'd like such a machine doesn't mean I love my X220 any less.

    Sorry about the language.

My main gripes with the X1 are its battery life and effectively glossy screen. I don't think an ultrathin system at a cost premium can be justified unless it is both 1. significantly lighter than other models of the same screen size and 2. long lasting on a charge on its internal battery (at least the battery life of a T420 with a 9 cell). Since the X1's battery life is disappointing in my opinion, I find it hard to recommend to others. So, if I had questions, they'd definitely be:

    1. Why does the X1 use Gorilla Glass? Was another material not available to provide sufficient structural support for the lid without making the screen effectively glossy?

    2. Why does the X1 use a relatively low capacity battery? I personally would've liked to see at least 75 WHr (the one inside the X1 is rated at 39 WHr according to NotebookCheck).

    3. Why doesn't the X1 have a 7 row keyboard?

Personally, I'd get the X2 if it has these things when it is released next year:
    - 7 row keyboard
    - 1600x900 (HD+) matte display
    - Ivy Bridge Quad Core (non-ULV)
    - NVIDIA GT 640M or equivalent graphics
    - 8hrs+ of battery life normal usage (some YouTube, local 720p & 1080p videos, surfing the web on WLAN) and 10hrs+ surfing the web on WLAN (no Flash) with internal battery
    - An ODD

Nothing more than you :). But intuitively X2, X3...... sounds like how Lenovo will update the series. And given that Lenovo have a Thinkpad product life cycle of around 18 months, so this is pretty much how you should think about it.

Given what X1 represents in the thinkpad product portfolio, i think if Lenovo have future plan for continuing it, it will remain competitive in terms of features, etc.

I was hoping for that the next update in X1 could use a glass surface Touchpad, since that is what lot of X1 competitions are using, and this would fit in as a key feature for X1 to attract non-Thinkpadders to the X1 line.

I've been asking a question but haven't seen an answer. Does anyone know if Corning Gorilla Glass can be made with a matte finish instead of glossy?

I don't know for sure, but, intuitively, I'd have to say no. Glass is a glossy type material. I have never seen a matte window in my life (minus those weird textured ones, but I'm sure that would render the screen pretty much unusable). Although, I think it is more than possible to apply a screen protector or something of that nature that is matte, but it may distort the image on screen.
