Anyone tried both of these care to comment on the quality and response/feedback of both of these keyboards. Is there a great improvement in the T400s keyboard over the W500 keyboard?

T400s keyboard has less flex than the standard perforated W500 keyboard, but it is not much better than the non-perforated T61 keyboard that is available to some individuals.

Are the W500's shipping with the standard perforated keyboards again? Last I checked they were being shipped with the same keyboard as the T61's, my W500 included.

I bought mine quite some time ago though, so it may be that they've changed it again.

Yup, they changed it to the new perforated keyboards + metal structural support in the chassis (presumably because they have a lot of those stockpiled). According to most users, that eliminates most of the flex, but the left side is still more flexy than the T61 keyboards.

Thanks for the info. Anyone have the part number for the NBR or non-flex keyboards for the W500? Would like to order one to replace the current kb.

    I believe these are it:
    42T3209 - Alps
    42T3273 - Chicony
    42T3143 - NMB

Generally, people say NMB keyboards are the best, although some prefer the slightly different feels of the other keyboards.

That sucks for the new buyers.

For the NMB keyboard that came with the T61, you want to get Part#: 42T3109 and FRU: 42T3143
