Hi, I got my 15.4" T61 last week and everything has been good. However, I reformatted into XP and while installing drivers my keyboard went out, but my mouse was fine. I thought it just happened while installing the drivers so I ignored it. However, a week later (today), the same problem happens again after all the drivers are installed. I went away from my laptop and closed the lid, and when I came back, none of the keys but the Thinkvantage button worked. I am wondering whether this is a software or a hardware problem.
Also, I can't get rid of the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon at in my taskbar. The hardware device indicated is HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-U10N. I was wondering if this is because I did not install a certain driver. When I go to device manager, under "Other devices," I have 3 question mark icon "Base System Device" and 1 question mark icon "Unknown device."
I installed all of the drivers from skint80's post and most of the ones I thought were necessary.
Alsoooo...there is a green light on the right of the notebook next to the two horizontal USB ports that is always on. I was wondering if this is normal.
Lastly, I was wondering if anyone gets fingerprints on their LCD. What is the best thing I can use to clean a matte screen? Lint-free cloth?
Thanks for your help~~

Try going into your device manager and remove your keyboard then restart. Hopefully xp just has a corrupt driver installed or something.
You're pretty much stuck with the safely remove drive icon since its for your ultra bay drive.
USB light is normal.
Yep, lint free cloth with a dab of water, make sure it isn't dripping though. -
I have the same problem. Except it's with my Keyboard, Mouse, and audio. Maybe every 4th or 5th restart, windows will boot, and the keyboard / mouse AND audio card don't seem to be present. It says "no audio device installed" when you click on the sounds icon in control panel. This is resolved by going to the device manager and disabling / enabling the audio card. This isn't a big deal to me as I have an Audigy 2 ZS for the laptop and only use the built in sound when I take the computer somewhere. I also have an external kb and mouse that I use at home, so again, only notice the kb + mouse when I'm out. So maybe it happens more often than I think and I just don't realize it...!
I'm afraid of sending it back to Lenovo. Because the problem it intermittent, i'm worried that they wouldn't be able to reproduce the problem while testing it, and I would get the laptop back again in a week or 2 in exactly the same shape. (or possibly worse...)
EDIT: I have had the laptop for almost 3 months now, and this is my third install of XP Pro. This problem occured on the other installations as well, so I doubt it's a driver issue in my case.
