Hi Friends,
I am using Lenovo 3000y500 series laptop. I installed OpenSuse 10.3. Installation was perfect and It worked properly for some days. Now I find a problem, Keyboard and mouse(touchpad) are not getting detected while booting which works in windows. When i went through some forums I got an advise to give kernel paramater "acpi=off" . It worked, but problem is now OS support for Laptop(telling about battery details) Lost. Sound also not working. So I removed this parameter. Next advise I got was to press shift key while booting. Some times it works and sometimes not.
When I tried to re install suse, Setup also shows same problem.
Same problem occured when I tried Fedora Core 7 Also.
Above Linux distributions I tried on my Friend's Laptops. It Worked fine there.
Can anyone suggest What to do to make linux work properly. Is there any compatability issue for linux with Lenovo Laptops

I am no linux expert, but ubuntu worked for me right from the Live CD, so installed and never looked back. Lenovo/IBM laptops actually have an excellent reputation as far as linux compatibility goes. Try searching the ubuntuforums.org site, it has a lot of information. You might want to post this in the "linux OS" section. There are several knowledgeable folks who monitor that area. I'd strongly recommend trying Ubuntu.

Yes, you could try Ubuntu or Mint (even easier). Then, we'll see.

Thanks for reply,
Now I noticed one interesting thing. When I am booting Laptop in AC power above problem solved. But I didn't understand why it is not detecting battery at boot time.
