    Hi there,

I just picked up a z60m (see specs in my sig) and have been building and updating it over the weekend.

I initially noticed that my volume controls didn't function (at the top left of the keypad) so after reading up on various customisations and keyboard layouts (and without any luck) installed all the latest Lenovo updates and XP updates - they still don't work.

After I installed the updates, my fingerprint logon had changed back to having to enter my password - it was then that I discovered that my cursor keys didn't work* (wasn't able to navigate the BIOS screen to change any settings).
*If I use the function key the cursor keys handle the multimedia controls that they're assigned - so there's no 'hardware' issue.

The ThinkVantage key doesn't do anything and the delete key doesn't work either.

They're the only ones (I think) that aren't functioning.

I've changed keyboard preferences (I had accidentally set up US - Dvorak, keyboard initially) using standard US and then UK - but this had no effect.

Does anyone know if there is a setting that I've overlooked?

    Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

    Steve

I should add that the OS was pre-installed - all I've done is updated it.

I've been on the support line to IBM today about this - they're not sure what the problem is, as the cursor keys don't work within the BIOS set up screen.

One thing I did learn - if you load a keyboard layout on setting up the OS it's there to stay, nothing short of hacking the registry will change the default layout - good to know. I guess they don't use DOS in Dvorak.

I have to send the unit back to IBM in the meantime :(
