Ok, our company receive tons of T61 today and after reading the manual, I see that some model has keyboard light next to the webcam.

How come the one we receive dont have them? Is the Canadian version excluded with this option?

When you press Fn+PgUp, a light in the edge of the bezel doesn't come on?

That's odd, I thought all of the Thinkpad T series came with the Thinklight ???
Yes, I would try what Nonny suggested. If that doesn't work (which I'm almost 100% sure it should) then this is going to be the first T61 I've heard about without a Thinklight :)

It kinda sorta helps a little but it isn't an innovative or extremely useful feature.

I find my T60's ThinkLight to be extremely useful and works exactly as advertised. No complaints here.

It's only a little helpful when I'm in a completely dark room and my screen is set to a low brightness setting. Otherwise the screen is actually just a bright as the light.

I find the ThinkLight to help a lot. Even with my screen up to 100% brightness, it doesn't actually shine on the keyboard at all for me.

Ya, I think in order for one to get the "full effect" of the Thinklight you have to:
    1. Be in a completely dark room, or air plane at night.
    and,
    2. Have the screen brightness set to half way, or all the way down.

If you're just in a regularly lit room, with the screen brightness turned all the way up, you will probably not notice the light is even on :) Otherwise, I find it very useful in a very dark situation. Mainly on the plane if someone is sleeping next to you or something and you don't want to turn the overhead light on, just flip on the Thinklight :)

The ThinkLight is especially helpful when you're on your ThinkPad in a dark place. For example, you'll probably need full brightness in a well-lit room, but when the lights go out (like if you're in your bed surfing before you sleep), that full brightness will be unnecessary because the surrounding darkness will amplify that brightness, so you kick it down a few notches (also saves battery) and your keyboard isn't lit up anymore, that's when the ThinkLight comes in handy. ;)

I never use it, but maybe if I was on an airplane I would give it a try. I wonder how much extra battery it uses to have that light on...

It seems like a white LED light so I would assume that power usage is negligible :). For me, the light is only really helpful when I'm in a really dark room with very little light and the screen is set about 30% of brightness. It certainly isn't a bad feature to have. It probably only adds like 50 cents to the production cost and $1-2 to your end user cost.
