When I type on my T61 it seems that the keyboard/computer doesn't register the "punches"... Sometimes it misses some letters and sometimes it misses "shift" so it doesn't makes capital letters...

Is this because of the differences between the ALPS, NMB and Chicony keyboards or it is something with my computer ? I've had the keyboard connector out and putted back in several times but it hasn't helped.

I didn't had this "issue" on my T60. It registered all "punches".

Any idea on what I should/can do ?

    Regards,
    Jakob Laursen

Ask for a keyboard replacement calling Lenovo.

Off-topic: I also have a 4:3 SXGA+ T61. Difference only is the processor and memory.

That doesn't sound right. Different keyboard manufactures may yield sightly different travel, feedback, and noise characteristics, but it should not fail to make "punches". It is possible that you are having a n-key rollover problem, although this is only if you are pressing 3+ keys at once.

If your computer is still under warranty I would suggest calling support. If your machine is not under warranty, you can probably get a replacement keyboard off eBay for <$50 and install it yourself.
