In a way, yes it will.....thinkof the cache as water pipes. More pipes there are, more water will move through faster. Since it isn't too much more, I would go for next size up if your model allows it.

If you don't need it however, you don't need more pipes to pump more water out. Conserve.

i always get the cheapest/slowest CPU that still has the maximum amount of cache
cache makes a decent difference, and it does actually increase battery life a bit (cause it means less recalculating on the CPU. Trust me, I'm an engineer, and have done lots of IA32 programming)

All of the 7xxx series processors have a 4MB L2 cache. In this case, the manufacturers have it wrong. The 2 MB core 2 duos were named as T5xxx

Actually I'm afraid that's not true anymore. The T7100 has only 2MB of L2 cahce:
    http://www.intel.com/products/processor/core2duo/specifications.htm

Click the one for "Laptop processor specifications." You'll see that the T7100 has 2MB of L2. Yes, the T7000 brand used to mean 4MB of L2, but those princes of obfuscation over at Intel have mucked around with the numbering system. Again.

Yes. I do believe 4MB L2 will be very different from 2MB L2. That is 100% increase in size. While form 1.8ghz to 2 ghz, that is only about 10%.

At any rate, it's like 35 bucks to go from the 7100 to 7300, I made the jump without thinking about it :)
