    Hi All,

After doing much research, I've finally settled down on getting a W500. However, I have an issue regarding which monitor to purchase - For those in question, I will need a monitor that can pretty much do it all (must have 1920 x 1200 resolution, photoshop/illustrator, gaming, cad, movies.) however, I haven't found much reviews on the L2440P/X but found many spectacular reviews on the L220X. Any help would be appreciated.

Depends on the dot pitch you want. The L2440P is a TN panel though.

I just received a l220x for my new x200 w/base. Great monitor - I was not impressed when connected via VGA, but DVI (Displayport) looks amazing!
-Quick note - it does NOT work well with the Lenovo convertible monitor stand. The monitor nearly covers the opening for the notebook & dock.

As jaredy mentioned, the L2440P is a TN panel. One of the main reasons that the L220X has such rave reviews is because it uses a superior S-PVA panel. Don't let the fact that the L220X is CCFL and the L2440P is LED fool you into thinking that the latter will have equal or better image quality.

I have an L220X and it is by far the best monitor I've used. Normal LCD monitors that use TN panels don't come close. The L220X is also very reasonably priced IMO. If you purchase it as an accessory when building your W500 then I think you may get a better price.

cnet doesn't have very good reviews fyi...If you aren't really sure what the panel technologies are then you most likely do not have the NEED to get the better monitor (image wise). So in that case look at the dot pitch as I mentioned since the 22" is 1920x1200 (rare at this point) and will be considerably denser than a 24" at that resolution. I agree with jackboot that the l220x is pretty reasonably priced. I'd go for that panel if you don't mind the dot pitch and the size of the monitor's built in stand (and sort of bulkiness in general).

    nevermind found it 10.7KG

btw the L220x supports connecting two laptops in the same time and switching between each laptop using a mouse click?

    Thanks.

its amazing man i had thinkvision 19" earlier non-wide screen and i used to love it and now with this i ADORE it even more.

fits perfectly with my W500 resolution

the only thing annoying me is the difference in colors/brightness between laptop monitor and the L220X its so bright and clear and i tried to make it match the laptop screen but its JUST hard hehe :)

its not a bug biy maybe annoying me when switching back and forth

now looking for DVI or HDMI (the second connection) converter to connect two VGA laptops in the same time and start switching between them ;)

[edit] btw im a linux user so maye a linux issue, not sure just wanted to mention it[/edit]

My L220x arrived a couple of weeks ago.

I have to say that I'm disappointed because there's lots of text shadow, giving very unsharp text. I don't know if DVI will correct my issue, and cannot tell until my desktop PC gets here.

I found this review where that flaw is covered.
    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/monitors/display/lenovo-thinkvision-l220x_5.html

Can You guys tell me if You have the same problem? My screen looks like the first picture.

That's the only issue I have with this monitor. The Resolution is awesome, but the sharpness is bad.

I don't know either, but I looked real close at the LCD and noticed the shadowing.

I noticed a marked improvement with the DVI connection (x200 base)
