    Hi everybody,

So I just recently got my new L420 in the mail and I've been noticing a couple of problems. The first is that when the computer first turns on it'll be on a high power consumption setting then after about ten seconds of being at the desktop it'll switch back to my standard low power consumption setting. Is this normal? Also, the trackpad will sometimes cut out and not work for about a period of 5-10 seconds and then work fine. During that period the pointing stick wont move the cursor either. Is anyone else having problems like this?

Also one problem I forgot is randomly the keyboard will not respond anymore and the volume mute up and down buttons suddenly open the calculator? very strange. I haven't done anything to it since I've gotten it, just installed some stuff here and there. Should I call lenovo and try to have it replaced?

    Hey there,

I just received an L520 today and have not noticed either of the problems you speak of. Strange problems, though.

My L520's audio drivers weren't working properly out of the box -- particularly the internal mic (which didn't work at all). I had to uninstall the drivers and just go with the Windows default drivers (which seem to work just fine).

It's funny that you say that. All of my drivers seem to work fine, but then I installed skype and it said it can not detect my mic or speaker drivers. Very frustrating considering they both work. I don't know what to do.

If Skype has a forum I'd suggest posting there. They are more likely to be familiar with any issues you're having.

Maybe that's what happened to me -- I didn't check my speaker or mic prior to installing skype.

Like I said, one thing to try is to uninstall the current drivers and just use the default Windows ones. Worked for me.

Also, regarding your power consumption thing -- yeah, I think that's normal, as it happened to me too. Screen brightness was at 15 initially, then automatically changed to 13 or whatever I have it at.

I just tried that and now everything works with skype. Weird. Still having the mouse problem but for the most part I'm loving this laptop. These things are way studier than sony vaios.

Yeah, I'm really impressed with the build quality. Certainly feels sturdy.
