Hello everyone!
I'm having a strange problem with my Thinkpad L440 and hope someone can help me out.
My Thinkpad L440 is working fine since about two year, i never had a problem with it. About two weeks ago I decided to replace the 1600x900 HD+ display with a full HD display, because (as all L440 owners will know) the standard screen just isn't that good.
I read a lot about how to change the display, which display i should buy etc., and finally ordered a B140HAN01.2 from aliexpress. The display arrived today and I replaced the old display without any problems. Before I reassembled the display bezel i turned the laptop on to see if it worked, and i gladly the boot screen was visible. But only for about 10 seconds. After that the screen just slowly went black.
I tried an external monitor, and that worked without any problems. Therefore the rest of the hardware should be ok. I also switched back to the old display, which again worked without a problem. The curious thing is that the new AUO B140HAN01.2 seems to work too, but only for about 10 seconds before it turns off again. This also happens when i set the laptop to hibernate and turn it on again: the screen is visible for about 10 seconds and then slowly turns dark. It also seems that it's not only the backlight that goes out, but the whole display (i can't see anything on it, even with a flashlight).
I already searched for similar issues, but couldn't find anyone with the same problem. The only thing i dug up was that the edp cable might be at fault, because the old screen used a 1 lane edp connection and the new AUO screen a 2 lane edp connection. My edp cable has the FRU 04x4846.
Is it possible that i need to replace the edp cable? Or is the display i ordered damaged?
If you need more information on the hardware please let me know.
Regards
