L520 cpu upgrade, Quad-core possible?

This question has already been asked for the E520, so I hope the answer will be positive for me too:

Can you upgrade the L520 socketed CPU to a quadcore one?

Specifically, I'm aiming for the Core i7-2670QM. Is there anything that would prevent this cpu from playing nice with the L520? (BIOS cpu whitelists, socket incompatibilities, etc). As far as I know, the L520 is compatible with dualcore i7's.

Thank you for any insight! I'm new to the Intel Core cpu family (using a Dell e4300 with SP9600 c2d). I ordered a L520 with a Pentium B950 cheapo cpu and I'm going to replace that, because it's way cheaper than ordering a top-of-the-line L520.

 

To answer my own question: Yes, it is possible. It is also very necessary, for science etc., and for that, as easy as pie.

I plan on replacing the cpu of my L520 with an i7 2670qm. Did you encounter any problems while using your notebook with the quad core (because of the 45W tdp instead of 35W) ?Any heat problems or instability?

 

No issues whatsoever. I've been running this configuration since June and didn't encounter any problem. Battery runtime under load is reduced, of course, but idle power consumption doesn't seem to be any different.
It might be worth noting that the stock L520 cpu heatpipe is too narrow to cover the complete die of a quadcore cpu. This doesn't seem to have any noticeable effect on cooling tho, so you will be fine.

A few days ago I swapped the old cpu back in and I'm planning on selling the quadcore again. It's a crazy fast cpu and I simply do not need that much processing power in my laptop.
