I don't know if anybody has shared this before. Here are the current prices for a 15.4" WSXGA+ T61 Screens From Lenovo Retail Parts:
Samsung 42X4641 $367.00
LG 42T0417 $401.21
LG 42T0423 $468.89

LOL, interesting find. Wouldn't surprise me.

Parts info for my laptop displays:
42T0423 15.4 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU
42X4641 15.4 INCH LCD DISPLAY ASSEMBLY FRU
What LCD do I have LG or Samsung? -
42T0423 = lg-phillips screen (i think)
pc wizard can confirm
also try looking up the parts list on
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=TPAD-FRU
under your machine type
you should be able to verify this in the LCD parts section -
42T0423 = LG
42X4641 = Samsung
per the Hardware Maintainable Manual
But my laptop part list displays both so I am lost. One say Display and the other says Display Assembly.
42T0423 15.4 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU
42X4641 15.4 INCH LCD DISPLAY ASSEMBLY FRU

In a fit of OCD I was googling this the other day as well. Found some prices here:
http://www.screentekinc.com/Lenovo_...--1680x1050-wsxgaplus-laptop-lcd-screen.shtml - there are links to the model numbers down the bottom
I know there is at least one other common LG model number - 42T0360 (I have it, referenced in a few posts). Who knows, I'm content with it anyway. -
try pc wizard to pull the model info. google the results

Thanks BatMan. It's LG Phillips LP154W02-TL06.

Actually, the screen that most people complain about (myself included) with the T61 is FRU# 42T0329 (15.4" Samsung WSXGA+). To purchase it right now through Lenovo as a replacement part is $540.36. So replacement price doesn't necessarily reflect quality.
I'm not sure which Samsung that is for $367, unless it's the same as FRU# 42T0329, just re-FRU'ed. -
Not true. Look on your invoice, you'll see that #42T0329 refers to more than just the LCD panel. You should also have the FRU #42X4641 listed if you have the Samsung - this is the LCD only. So my theory still stands price=quality.

You're right! I had never noticed that there were two separate entries for the display. It's very confusing though as 42X4641 is called "display assembly FRU", while 42T0329 is just called "display FRU", yet it's more money. The parts ordering website doesn't seem to offer a lot of clarification. -
is anyone's LCD completely grain-free?
LCD Price = Quality??!??
